Flashback Friday...
To an incredible session at the York Region Agri-Food Start-Up Networking Event!
โThe event brought together aspiring food entrepreneurs, industry experts, and program partners for a session that included learning, networking, and inspiration. Participants gained valuable insights on entrepreneurship, business growth, financing, food safety, and Indigenous perspectives on business and community.
โAs one of the featured guest speakers representing Nerpy's Inc., it was an absolute honor to take the stage and share my journey.
For me, stepping into these spaces in a mentorship role and giving back to the next wave of founders is deeply personal; supporting emerging entrepreneurs and helping them navigate the realities of the food industry is vital to building a stronger, more resilient local community.
โIt was a privilege to speak alongside an amazing lineup, including:
โMary-Anne Willsey and Kailey LeDrew (Chippewas of Rama First Nation)
โRandy Lawrence (Farm Credit Canada)
โMarika Italiano (York Region Public Health)
โAttendees also heard from Marija Djordjevic, Founder of Gathered and Servedโa Cohort 1 participant who shared insights from her own entrepreneurial journey building a successful food business.
โBeyond the presentations, the event provided a fantastic opportunity to connect with peers, build relationships, exchange ideas, and strengthen connections within York Region's growing agri-food ecosystem.
โA huge thank you to project partners Foodpreneur Lab Syzl Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation, and York Region Food Network for their continued collaboration and support in delivering the York Region Agri-Food Start-Up Program.
