✊ Tough times for BC farmers! The frigid temperatures this past winter, dropping as low as -28c, wiped out nearly all the peach, nectarine, plum and apricot trees across the Okanagan. This means many BC farmers will have nothing to sell this summer.

Sukh, a farmer from Oliver, had just a single peach tree left in good condition! Can you believe that?! Determined to make the best out of the season, he reached out to us for ideas on what he could grow for us.

We've known Sukh for over 7 years and he's very experienced having previously grown cantaloupes and watermelons. So we thought, why not try black watermelons? 🤔 🍉

This summer, we urge you to embrace flavour in all its forms and try a seeded watermelon.

These mammoth-sized watermelons from Vierra Farms take their sweet time ripening in the fields, slowly reaching up to 50lbs. The result? Dense, rich flesh with extraordinary sweetness.

Seeded watermelons must be grown in order to pollinate the seedless plants. That means despite 92% of all watermelons sold in the USA being seedless, every farm also grows their seeded parent.

So while seeded watermelons have almost completely disappeared from modern supermarkets, they'll still be sticking around.

It’s often debated whether or not watermelons with seeds taste better. We can’t give you a definitive answer (there's so many variables), but we do know these are nothing short of amazing and are one of the best watermelons we’ve ever tasted. Oh, and they're not hard on the wallet either 😉.
