A little update for those of you asking about Legacy. His original wound left quite a hole and subsequent crack in his hoof, which unfortunately allows lots of dirt and debri to get in and cause problems 🙄 we are now battling an abscess but it seems to be resolving well! He's getting used to the drill and sure looks good doing it too!

Scoot Boots for the win 💪 he was blowing through bandages daily even with extensive duct tape boots. Scoots in 2 sizes up to fit the poultice fixed it no problem!

Some of you may have noticed that Legacy is no longer listed as available. It has been a very long week here resulting in his sale ad being pulled.

Monday at morning feed Legacy didn't come up with the rest. I found him 3 legged lame in the field with a solid chunk of wood sticking out of the top of his coronet band. Off to the vet!

Initial xrays looked like the joint wasn't effected, stick was removed in chunks, he was flushed, cleaned and sent home with poultice and bandage changes, antibiotics and pain relief. Come Wednesday he was still 3 legged lame so back to the vet Thursday.

Second xrays then showed a wound tract down to his coffin bone. He was left at the clinic for extensive joint lavages, limb perfusions, heavy antibiotics and extensive care for 3 days.

He is now home, and while MUCH improved and actually walking and perky, we are not out of the woods just yet. We are managing his pain, antibiotics, and symptoms closely and hoping for his full recovery! Please send thoughts and prayers for him!

He will no longer be for sale.

For anyone wondering just how quiet Legacy is, I always have to be super aware with the tractor because he will not move unless asked 🤣 the horn works for everyone else but he needs words hahaha
