🇨🇦 Canadians Say Groceries Are the #1 Budget Killer!
A new nationwide survey reveals that food and grocery costs have become the biggest financial burden for Canadian households, with 76% of Canadians saying rising grocery prices are putting the most pressure on their monthly budget.
Fuel costs remain another major concern, with 47% of respondents saying gas prices continue to strain their finances, while 33% identified mortgage or rent payments as a significant challenge.
Beyond groceries and housing, many families are also struggling with electricity bills, home heating, and unexpected household repairs, making it increasingly difficult to stay ahead financially.
Although some grocery items have recently become slightly more affordable, many everyday essentials—including pork, salmon, and apples—remain expensive. Experts note that Canada’s food inflation is still among the highest in the G7, even though the pace of price increases has started to slow.
For many Canadians, especially seniors living on fixed incomes and young families raising children, the rising cost of living is forcing difficult choices about spending, saving, and even long-term life plans.
The survey also found that many people are feeling exhausted by the constant increase in living costs, with growing concern that high prices may become the new normal.
