So something I have been working on since I got sheep has been learning different fibre arts. I can finally say I’m in love with hand spinning and my new Ashford 70mm drop spindle has been a game changer. For anyone wanting to learn I highly suggest trying one. We are also hoping to start holding fibre craft meetups for anyone wanting to gather and learn together. Here are a few pictures of what I’ve been playing with. The natural fibre is Shetland and Shetland cross. And the colourful one is Ashford’s merino/silk Arizona colorway. I am so in love with how its spinning up. 🀩 (I prepared it into rollags by putting it on my hand carders 1x).

I would love to know what everyone has been up to this winter? Anyone crafting? Anyone want to be apart of our meetups?

Happy Spinning!

Steph ☺️

Hey Gardening friends! πŸ‘‹

It’s that time of year. Tomato seed orders are going in. If you bought tomato plants from us last year or are looking for something specific I would love to hear from you. Which ones did you love? What grew best? Ect.

I will be ordering some of my favs from last year as well as trying out some new varieties. Some of these will include shorter season growers as well as some determinate (Bush) varieties that will be better for growing in pots and on patios.

I will also be starting some other interesting plants this year so if you are looking for anything specific let me know as I am always happy to try new plants out. One very exciting plant I’m excited to bring in this year is the Kuri Kuri squash. A delicious japanese type Hubbard (red kuri) with dark red/orange skin. It’s cream coloured flesh is firm and never stringy. Soooo yummy for roasting, simmering, and soups.

Thanks πŸ™

Yours truly,

Tomato update: this year I tried something new and strung the tomatoes up by twisting them around some twine, as well as pruning off the side shoots about every 1-2 weeks. The ones I strung have definitely done the best with no breaking of heavy tops. They also love the south side of the house which helps trap the heat. Looking forward to next week and some hotter weather! Hopefully this helps them ripen. πŸ… πŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎ 🌱
