Rabbit Meat

I raise meat rabbits because they are a lean, nutrient-dense, healthy meat choice and one of the most environmentally friendly meat options. Rabbits require less land, water, and feed than larger livestock per pound of meat produced. I'm also able to lower our environmental footprint further by supplementing my rabbits diet with garden weeds and natural vegetation from my property.

I have meat rabbits currently available to purchase for pet food. These were processed at home, so I cannot sell for human consumption because I do not have a licensed abattoir. I am offering whole prey for $3.50/lb, or dressed for $7/lb. Dressed (shown in picture) are processed how I prepare them for my family. The weights of one rabbit range 5-9 lbs for whole prey, and 3-5 lbs for dressed.

I'm excited to welcome these new additions to our farm. Cajun Creek Farm's Welsh Harlequin duck flock, which includes 16 adults from their line and 6 ducklings that they hatched from eggs shipped in from Westerdale Farms, Alberta.

I'm honored that they reached out to us for rehoming their ducks once they decided to move on to bigger things (more geese!). Welsh Harlequin ducks are listed on the Livestock Conservancy's heritage breeds conservation priority list. These birds will add valuable genetics to our flock.

We also brought back 4 partridge chantecler cockerals which are from an Ontario line, and unrelated to our flock. Partridge Chanteclers are another heritage breed on the Livestock Conservancy's conservation priority list.

I have a surplus of eggs this week and am able to take on a new egg customer if anyone is interested!

One of my goals for my farm is to reduce my ecological footprint. So, if many people are interested, preference will be given to someone who lives locally, or has to drive past my place regularly.
