Roads are busier than ever. There seems to be more motorists in areas where farm equipment operates than we have seen before. This can create congestion and maybe even "friction" between farm and other types of traffic. In part of our campaign to keep farmers safe on the road, we are holding a farm equipment road safety day. April 9 we will have speakers from OPP and MTO to teach us what we should and shouldn't be doing on the road. We want to prevent farm vehicle accidents and reduce liability for our farm equipment operators. Please join us from 10:30 to 12:00 on April 9. This is a free event and we encourage farmers, their employees and their family to attend. Let's make the road a safer place.

We are all set up to screen We Lend a Hand. We will be able to offer a few cash ticket sales at the door for both screenings. The matinee is sold out online but there are tickets available online for the evening show. See you folks today.

Wow! Has there ever been alot of interest in the movie We Lend a Hand. Our matinee showing is nearly sold out. We do have some cash tickets left for at the door. However; we don't want you to miss this opportunity so we have added another screening. We will show the film again at 6:30 with the doors opening again half hour before. The Middlesex Federation of Agriculture held a bonspiel today. Elgin sent a contingent of 5 players brimming with unqualified confidence. We learned the social etiquette in curling is to have the winning team buy the losing team a drink. By that measure, our day was a smashing success.

Save the date: March 8. 2:00 P.M. Aylmer Old Town Hall

The EFA is proud to present the film We Lend a Hand. It's a story about "farmerettes", young women who helped tend crops and care for livestock when soldiers were overseas during WW2. We are working to put the final touches together but spread the word. March 8 is International Women's day and we are celebrating by showing this film. Stay tuned for ticket information.

Today we’re celebrating the 10th anniversary of by recognizing the hardworking farmers, food processors, and agri-food workers right here in Elgin who help move food from field to fork 🍴

Across Ontario, the agri-food sector employs more than 871,000 people and contributes over $50 billion to the provincial economy each year and it all starts in our local communities. Thank you to every link in the supply chain for the dedication it takes to keep plates full, close to home and around the world. 🌾🚜🥛

Elgin County farmers contribute over $800 million annually to the local economy and support over 5500 spinoff jobs!

Last night was our first regular board meeting since our AGM. This is the meeting where we elect our executive. New to the executive committee this year is Issac Clutterbuck. Isaac has joined in the Vice President position. Congratulations Isaac. Greg Fentie remains as President and Melissa Schneider will continue her role as Past President. If you see Isaac, offer him a round of applause.
