This winter has been very challenging on a personal level. Between supporting my family through the end-of-life journey of my father and navigating further complications from my surgery, it has honestly been a lot. I won’t go into all the details, but this is why many of you have been seeing Briana instead of me throughout the spring. It’s also why Atria production is behind schedule and why some of the exciting things we’ve been working on are rolling out a little slower than planned.
This is the reality of running a small family business. When one partner gets ill or a family member needs support, the other steps in to help — even when it comes at the expense of the business for a little while.
That being said, we’ve also been building something really special behind the scenes. Briana has become an incredible part of the team. If you see her at your home or business, please let her know she’s doing a great job. We recently hired her full-time and honestly already wonder how we ever managed without her.
We’re also bringing more help into the shop to move our backlog forward. Ava started training with Mike this weekend and we’re excited to see what she can do as we continue growing the team.
The bees are coming just a little later than expected this year thanks to the colder spring. Beehouses will still be moved as needed, just a little more gradually, and we’ll continue rolling out new initiatives over the coming weeks and months. That includes a full series of Lotions & Potions workshops with Liette, a fully stocked beekeeping supply store for both Atria and traditional Langstroth equipment, and shorter weekend beekeeping courses.
We’ll also be relying on the support of old and new friends through the Eastern Ontario Beekeepers Association and our own incredible network of helpers from our Hosting Programs. So if you see someone in an Apiverte bee jacket this season, be sure to say hi and thank them for stepping up.

C’est la réalité d’une petite entreprise familiale. Quand un partenaire tombe malade ou qu’un membre de la famille a besoin de soutien, l’autre doit être présent, même si ça ralentit temporairement les activités.
Cela dit, nous sommes aussi en train de bâtir quelque chose de vraiment beau en coulisses. Briana est devenue une partie essentielle de l’équipe. Si vous la voyez chez vous ou dans votre entreprise, n’hésitez pas à lui dire qu’elle fait un excellent travail. Nous l’avons récemment embauchée à temps plein et, honnêtement, on se demande déjà comment on faisait avant.
Nous ajoutons aussi de l’aide à l’atelier pour faire avancer notre carnet de commandes. Ava a commencé sa formation avec Mike cette fin de semaine et nous avons très hâte de voir tout ce qu’elle pourra apporter à l’équipe.
Les abeilles arriveront simplement un peu plus t**d cette année en raison du printemps plus froid. Les déplacements des ruchers se feront toujours au besoin, mais un peu plus graduellement, et nous continuerons de déployer tranquillement plusieurs nouvelles initiatives au cours des prochaines semaines. Cela inclut une série complète d’ateliers Lotions & Potions avec Liette, une boutique apicole entièrement approvisionnée pour l’équipement Atria et Langstroth traditionnel, ainsi que des formations apicoles de fin de semaine plus courtes.
Nous pourrons aussi compter sur l’aide d’anciens et de nouveaux amis de l’Association des apiculteurs de l’Est de l’Ontario ainsi que sur notre formidable réseau de participants à nos programmes d’hébergement. Donc, si vous croisez quelqu’un portant un manteau d’apiculture Apiverte cette saison, prenez le temps de lui dire bonjour et merci de donner un coup de main.
