Well Christmas dinner was interrupted due to a difficult calving. A heifer started calving during the noon day milking. John was watching her and felt something was off. He was sure he could feel two mouths and he and Jeff could not separate the calves. Vet was called. C section required. Two headed calf. Don’t ever remember having one on the farm before. Jeff missed dinner, but we packed him up a plate for later. The rest of us managed to squeeze dinner in while the vet was operating.

Dairy farm experience is not a requirement but is an asset.
Duties include milking, feeding calves, barn chores, and field work.

And that’s a wrap on corn snaplage. Bunk is covered, pizza and beer are delivered and it’s starting to spit some rain.

Adrian dropping off a load of corn snaplage with the old silage wagon we use to break open fields with. Waiting on the last load from the field farthest away from the farm. Should go a lot quicker now as the next fields are much closer to home.

This morning we presented Stephen Geldart with a gift of recognition for 25 years of employment with Dairy Sweet Holsteins Ltd. Stephen is a very valued employee and we appreciate him greatly.

Bunk is getting there. We will fill this one and then some in another bunk and have fields left for snaplage too. It’s turning out better than we expected!👍🏻🐄🌽

Chopping, pushing up and packing. All in a day’s work of chopping corn silage. Not a great year for corn.

If you fill a barn you need a tractor to feed the animals and clean the barn. A 120 hp Deutz-Fahr was available and it nicely fits in the barn.
