Monday was an exciting day at the University of Saskatchewan for IntelliYeast Laboratories Labs, Dr. Christopher Eskiw, and Fina Nelson with the launch of the University of Saskatchewan brÜSask Amber Ale!
BrÜSask Amber Ale is the first of an ever-evolving project to highlight Usask Research Excellence with the support of USask Culinary Services!
What started as a conversation with Chef James McFarland at USask Culinary Services and Dr. Eskiw at IntelliYeast Labs/USask College of Agriculture and Bioresources, PhD Candidate Fina had a vision to tell the story of research excellence at USask. A collaborative beer to be served by Culinary Services at events that not only bring USask campus together, but regularly hosts international researchers and VIPs. Highlighting research that puts the USask on the global stage, especially in agriculture and fermentation.
Starting with Dr. Eskiw's brewing yeast research that led to the founding of IntelliYeast Laboratories, Dr. Aaron Beattie's world-class barley research, Dr. Prof. Dr. Tim Sharbel's growing Saskatchewan-based hops research, and the leadership of Dr. Angela Bedard-Haughn in the College of Agriculture and Bioresources. And who better to collaborate with than 9 Mile Legacy Brewing Brewing Co. Ltd. and their LGCY: Innovation Hub (lead by the talented Cassy Appelt). A powerhouse of research in action and passionate storytellers.
More information about the project will be coming soon, but so far, a successful launch! Cheers!
