The CSA pickup will be Tuesday evening at the Suites as usual, but we’re saving all of our extra produce for our booth at the corn roast on Wednesday! (So no pop-up veggie market on Tuesday.)

Saskatoon is blessed with some incredible farm-to-table restaurants, and as a farmer-supplier to many of them, I can attest that it’s more than just marketing. They really walk the walk.

Back in the winter-time when we were making our crop plan, I reached out to a few chefs, asking for input. I gave them a list of things we are able to grow pretty reliably on our farm and asked if there was anything they’d like us to plant for them. Chef Kevin at hearth.restaurant got back right away with a few different requests (zucchini, broccolini, basil, chives...) but I was the MOST excited when he asked for Swiss chard. It’s one of our favourite crops to grow and an extremely underrated one in my opinion because A) It is beautiful, B) It’s packed with nutrients, and C) It grows so well in our climate. The only problem is, it’s not the most popular vegetable. Not everyone knows what to do with chard or how delicious it can be when you prepare it right… which is why it is so rad that we now have the chance to go and see how the masters do it!

If you want to make our day (and help us keep growing our favourite crop), head over to Hearth and try the Swiss chard stuffed pasta dish that’s currently on the menu (for a limited time only because they cook with the seasons). Seems like a win-win, no?!
