The love for food, Nomadic Bistro.
We are a local family business, of course, my mother is the baker and I handle the business operations. Our family has always had great cooks along many generations, my great grand father was a cook in WWII by the way, and my grand father makes the best Chachoucka!
My mother, being a pastry chef and an expert in Algerian cuisine, would cook everyday and bake almost every other day at home. Growing up in a such a household made it seem normal for me as a child, that every household had great cooks and ate wholesome meals everyday! but as I grew older and I started to realize that was not the case! I realized that not too many people cook that much, that good, that often or even afford to do so... (I also realized that if I ever get married, I would either be the cook in the house, or lower my expectations!...either way).
Seeing that this was a family tradition, we decided to share our love for food with the people in our community, not only that, but we want to share it with people who have different senses. Therefore we pay great attention to the the design, texture, smell and taste of our food.
We searched for ways to share our goods and the Saskatoon Farmers Market happened to be the opportunity to do so. We had decided to apply, and after a few obstacles and challenges we had set up our booth in August 2019! Our products were a hit and people enjoyed them, people from the community, others from different countries visiting and traveling through Saskatoon. The feedback from our customers was the message that the business should go on.
