What’s really happening in your milk?

DeLaval’s new Milk Solids Analysis is bringing a whole new level of information to the VMS V300.

Instead of relying on an occasional milk sample to tell you what your herd is doing, the new BioSensor measures fat, protein and lactose during every milking. The information is then brought into DeLaval Plus so you can see what’s happening at both the cow and herd level.

Extremely accurate.
No calibration required.

But the real question is: what can you actually do with that information?

Think about changing forages, adjusting a ration, dealing with a feed transition, or simply wondering why milk production or components have shifted.

Rather than waiting for the next test result, you can watch the trend as it happens.

Is the herd responding to a ration change?
Are milk components starting to move in the wrong direction?
Is an individual cow behaving differently from the rest of the herd?
What effect is a forage or feeding change actually having?

The system also looks at the fat-to-protein ratio, with daily and 7 day trends that can help flag possible metabolic issues such as ketosis or acidosis earlier, giving you and your nutritionist or veterinarian another piece of information when making herd health decisions.

And there’s no extra sampling routine. The sensor uses near infrared technology to measure the milk in line during milking, without manual sampling or consumables such as test reagents.

For us, this is where the technology gets exciting! It’s not just about having more numbers. It’s about having better information when you can actually use it to make feeding decisions, monitor herd performance and catch changes sooner.

Milk Solids Analysis is now available for the DeLaval VMS V300 as an upgrade or as an option on new installations.

The guys have had a great time at two golf tournaments we love attending and supporting this month! We always have so much fun putting a team in, sponsoring holes, and getting out to enjoy a day on the course while supporting our local agricultural community.

The Agri Golf Classic, a fundraiser in support of the athletics program at Dalhousie Agricultural Campus.

The 4-H Nova Scotia Royal Dairy Golf Scramble, held in support of the province’s 4-H Royal Dairy Team.

We’re proud to support these great organizations and the important work they do for agriculture, youth, and our community. We look forward to these tournaments every year! ⛳️ 🐄
