For me, the Back 40 is both a place and a chapter of life.
It’s where I can simply be myself. No filters. No makeup. Nothing polished or perfected. It’s raw, untouched, a little wild—and one of my favourite places to be.
These days, I find myself wandering down there with the dogs to walk quietly, listen to the birds, take in the changing colours, spend time with the horses or build a fire. In the stillness, my senses wake up. There’s life everywhere you look.
Recently, I came across a mama moose and her calf. We stood watching one another, my adrenaline pumping, until it was time to quietly give them their space. Wild, beautiful and slightly terrifying—all at once.
But my Back 40 is more than a place on the farm. It’s also the second act of life I’m living now—a homecoming to what feels true in my heart.
I’m learning to be more present, trust what’s good for me and spend time with people who allow me to be fully myself. I’m making peace with every part of the trail that brought me here—the good, the bad and the ugly—while letting go of old beliefs that no longer fit.
Cowgirl’s Friend and the skincare I’m creating for you grew from that same spirit. It’s about caring for changing skin and taking small moments to care for ourselves—not because we need fixing, but because feeling supported helps us meet life with more strength, openness and light.
This is our time to shine.
