The Nutty Neighbours Hi! We are The Nutty Neighbours, Andy & Amanda Pilot. Why are we nutty? Because we farm hazelnuts and feel a little crazy doing it sometimes!

We have been farming since 2016 in West Lincoln, Ontario, and everyday on the farm is a new adventure!

This time of year makes us nervous on the farm. I call it "Fool's Spring" when the temps rise and the snow melts, making you think it's spring before the frost and maybe snow return. If the catkins elongate now, the pollen will die in a frost and fertilization will not happen = no hazelnuts! Luckily it looks like our trees still remain dormant... for now!!! 🤞
