We're back at the Brockville Farmers' Market today, 8am to 1pm!

Red, green, and yellow peppers on the table this week, plus mixed red and yellow cherry tomatoes, onions, garlic, and beets, picked fresh off the farm.

What did you spray on this? Nothing. How long has this been sitting? We picked it this week. Where did these eggs come from? Our backyard, literally.

Those are not questions you can ask at most places you buy food. You can ask us. At the market, in our inbox, wherever.

We think that matters. We know not everyone does, and that is fine. But if it matters to you too, you know where to find us.

August on the farm.

Tomatoes everywhere. Squash on the ground getting bigger every day. The cabbage is solid. The beans keep coming whether we are ready or not.

This is the time of year where you cannot walk the rows without coming back with something in your hands. We are not complaining.

The garlic is pulled.

Every bulb that went into the ground last fall is now out of it. They are hanging to cure right now — a few weeks of slow drying before they are ready to store, use, or grind into powder.

Most people never see this part. It is not glamorous but it is necessary. Good garlic takes time.

We will let you know when it is ready.

Here is what is happening on the farm this week.

The delicata squash is getting close — and apparently we are not the only ones excited about it. Caught this little moment in the squash flowers, and we cannot stop watching it. This is what a healthy garden looks like.

The cabbage is going strong too. Big solid heads doing exactly what they are supposed to do.

It is one of those weeks where you walk the fields and just feel the season building.
