Don’t let the snow fool you. This is the best time to start growing your seeds indoors – whether onions, leeks, celery, kale, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower.
We have available plant starts to get a jump on your growing season.
Field Tomatoes – these are heirloom tomato plants grown locally (Spruce Grove) following organic practices. What are ‘field’ tomatoes? Every year, we grow at least 10 varieties of tomatoes and save only the seeds from the juiciest beefsteak size tomatoes, typically Cherokee Purple, Brandywine, and Black Krim. But sometimes the seeds get mixed up. They have been potted up at least once to help promote a deep tap root, which helps plants survive through temperature and water fluctuations. ($4.50/starter)
Field Peppers – are either bell or sweet long peppers. As above, when we grow too many varieties, pepper seeds look the same. These starters follow organic practices (no pesticides), use natural fertilizers including vermicompost. They have also been potted up at least once to help develop a deep tap root. ($4.50/starter)
We will also have limited quantities of hot peppers and specialty tomato starts closer to May 1st.
