We are 6 seasons in and couldn't be more grateful for all the support we have.
How it all started:
Dylan had a vision as he was already a veggie farmer and saw the potential, and I (Chelsey) went along with it hoping for the best. We were 21&25 starting out. We sold our snowmobiles and put every dime we had into building our insulated trailer. I still remember buying our scale (the one we still use) and crying in the corner because it was $600 and I couldn't afford it.
We made everything ourselves - at least what we could do. Our crates came from the farmhouse that we moved into and many hours went into restoring them. Our tags are from a sheet of 1/8" plywood, and so much more we created by hand.
Next came the markets, and it was nothing but disappointing! We didnt even sell $200. Which in the veggie world is not worth all that time planting. Chelsey was doing 5-6 markets a week just trying to get traction. In August 2021, Dylans Aunt told us about Victoria Beach and we should give it a try. At this time we were defeat and didnt know if we should keep going. But we tried it, and well we are still here. We continued to our second season, quickly learning to stay at 1 market and repeat every week, same day, same place. So we committed to Victoria Beach, St Laurent, Portage, Headingley and Arnes.
We both worked our full time jobs. So decided to slow down on markets and only do 3-4 a week. Which is still more than enough.
Fast forward to now, we are doing much better than our first year. I still am flabergasted that we have 3-5 tills going on Saturdays and still cannot keep up.
