I have an ABUNDANCE of Daikon Radish after trying a new germination method that MORE than exceeded my expectations.
The timing doesn't quite match the Avalon Food Hub this time (a smidge too late for this week, and they will be beyond their peak freshness by next), so I'm offering up some "pay what you can" clamshells for Friday!

A daily serving of microgreens can go a long way to fill the nutrition gap, PLUS they are flipping delicious.

Fall means taking what I've learned from this season, and bringing it forward into the next. Some of the "bringing forward" is tangible: propagating cuttings and saving seeds, so that I don't start from where I did this year, which was "she has exactly nothing" 😆.
I'm learning a lot about my growing mediums and lighting, and doing the best with very little. If there's a microgreen you'd like me to try for you, let me know!

As everyone knows, the season was short and cold, but honestly, I'm short and I think I can do hard things, so frig it, right? 😁

My tomatoes are now divided into 4 categories:
-vine, greenhouse, plants still thinking they can produce more flowers and I'm like FOCUS ON WHAT YOU'RE DOING MY GOD
-indoors, in the naughty box (very green, but cute)
-indoors, in the "we trying out here" box
-indoors, in the "favorite children" nursery box, where they are almost red enough to sell.

Did you know that placing an apple inside a box with tomatoes speeds the ripening process because of the ethylene it releases? You can actually feel the heat energy when you open a box with apples and tomatoes inside - so cool, er warm...

As the super green turn, I move them to the next box to finish off, and so on...

It's far from a commercial grade system I have happening here, but I didn't even suggest that I was anything more than a small farmer, taking a season to grow a following, some food, talk to people about stretching food dollars, and planning for next year.
So, if a Breton cracker box with a sun roof is what that looks like, so be it, I say 🍅

I may be done markets for the fall, but that doesn't mean I don't have things to sell!

Some items (such as my gorgeous herb cubes) must stay frozen til use, so aren't conducive to a farm stand.
