Recently, our family had to say goodbye to Mindy, the little beagle who has been part of the farm for the past thirteen years. Many of you who visited over the years will remember her—Aiden’s loyal shadow, always trotting beside him through the woods, around the fields, or curled up in the tractor for a ride.
From the day she chose him as a pup in Victoria, she never left his side. She was smart enough that Aiden called her the “Einstein of beagles,” but it was her loyalty that defined her. Wherever he went, she followed. She watched over the farm as if it were her duty, and she claimed her favorite spot on the hill—“Pride Rock”—where she would sit beside Aiden and quietly look out over the land she loved.
In recent weeks, her health declined, and despite every hope, it became clear her time was coming to an end. Her suffering was gently brought to a close, surrounded by the people who loved her most.
The farm feels different today. Quieter. Emptier. But her presence lingers in every path she ran, every field she explored, and especially on that hill overlooking the pond.
Mindy was more than a dog. She was a companion, a guardian, and a piece of this place. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
