Remember the days of sharing handwritten recipes? The paper it was written on stained and worn, the sure sign it was a family favourite.

An amazing Food Hub customer shared this picture of their family favourite Rhubarb Cake Recipe (aka Crater Cake) and it gave all the nostalgic feels!

Hand-written recipes and memories of sitting together with friends and family to enjoy those delicious recipes? How could it not?

Food has always brought people together, and through the Avalon Food Hub, we continue to do that by connecting you to our local farmers and producers and all the vibrant, delicious foods they have to offer - including the locally grown and hand-picked rhubarb you'll need when you bake this cake 🙂

We are officially weekly which means orders are now open!

Did you forget to add something to your order last week? Maybe you passed on ordering a particular item, but now wish you would have added it to your cart. Rest assured, because you can place your next food hub order now for pick-up next Thursday (June 25th).

It’s now even easier to make the food hub a part of your weekly grocery routine! Orders will close on Monday (June 22nd) at midnight.

Orders are open for the Avalon Food Hub! Place your order between now and Monday at midnight to fill your plate with lots of delicious local food.

And as announced yesterday: we will now be open for orders on a weekly schedule! Orders will open every Friday and close every Monday, with pick-up happening on Thursdays at our five pick-up locations throughout St. John’s and Mount Pearl.

📢 Big update: We are open weekly!

We’re making it even easier to use local foods in every meal. Now you can plan for fresh weeknight salads, brunch with fresh-baked sourdough, or tacos using handmade sauces and local beef.

Shop every Friday through Monday, and choose one of our five convenient pickup points in St. John’s and Mount Pearl. The closer we get to summer, the more our inventory grows!

We have some great new products featured on the hub this week including locally foraged fiddleheads, bluefin tuna, scallops, and more! Starting tomorrow, you can choose Landwash (Mount Pearl) as your Avalon Food Hub pick-up point. Drop by their taproom from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays to fetch your order (and maybe a post-work pint?).
