Sunday Dinner is back! We're kicking off our very first Sunday dinner special of the season this Sunday - and we're starting things off right with homemade lasagna, garlic bread, and a crisp Caesar salad.

Choose your style: classic meat or veggie cheese. Either way, it's a proper comfort-food supper made right here in our kitchen.

🍗 It's Chicken Dinner Thursday! Tonight's the night - our first Rotisserie Chicken Dinner Thursday is happening RIGHT NOW. A whole roasted chicken, seasoned to perfection, with your choice of sides, dinner rolls, gravy, and 4 drinks. Feeds 4 for $55.

You can pre-order online at thebackkitchen.ca for pickup or just walk in and grab one — but quantities are limited, so don't miss out on this one.

Thursday Night Rotisserie Chicken Dinners are back!

We're excited to announce that Rotisserie Chicken Dinners are available every Thursday starting this week!

Here's what you get: A whole rotisserie chicken, seasoned to perfection and roasted until golden brown, served with your choice of sides, dinner rolls, gravy, and 4 drinks. Feeds a family of 4 for $55.

Pre-order online now (link in comments) — quantities are limited each week, so don't wait! Schedule a pickup time for 5:10 or later.

We're also now open until 7:30 on Thursdays, so swing by for dinner or pick up your chicken on the way home.

Spring Hours Update - based on your feedback, we're adjusting our spring schedule to better serve the community.

Starting this week, we'll be closed Monday through Wednesday, with Thursdays now running 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

And here's the exciting part: those extended Thursday hours mean we'll now be serving rotisserie chicken dinners on Thursday nights. 🍗

Don't worry, Wednesday hours will be back once we shift into our full summer schedule.

Huge thanks to the incredible crew who came out for our Spring Cleanup Day on May 9th. The sun was shining, the energy was high, and the BK is looking ready for the 2026 season thanks to all of you.

Hats off to: Andrew, Donnie, Ian, Lucy, Diane, Michele, Ali, Vicki, Jacqui, Chris, and Lynann

Look at what this crew tackled in just a morning:

✔︎ Picked up sticks in the backyard
✔︎ Hauled brush piles to the dump
✔︎ Weed-whacked the "no mow" area and around the building
✔︎ Edged the three new native gardens at the back
✔︎ Did a high mow in the backyard
✔︎ Tidied up the east patio
✔︎ Washed down all the outdoor furniture and set it back out
✔︎ Washed windows

As a volunteer-led not-for-profit, The Back Kitchen depends entirely on the kindness and generosity of our community. Every set of hands that shows up — for cleanups, events, or just to share a coffee — is what keeps this place running.

Remember: this is your Back Kitchen too. 💚

🎉 The Back Kitchen is back for the 2026 season and today is opening day. We're so happy to be back, and we can't wait to see you.

Spring hours:
Wednesday: 11am–2pm
Thursday: 11am–3pm
Friday–Sunday: 11am–5pm
Closed Monday & Tuesday

Volunteers wanted — Spring Cleanup Day at The Back Kitchen!

We're getting ready for the season ahead and could use your help making the BK shine.

📅 Saturday, May 9th ⏰ 9:00 AM – Noon

Lynann and her outdoor crew are taking care of the yard and gardens, but we still need a half-dozen extra hands for things like washing down the outdoor furniture, cleaning the eaves, and general exterior tidy-up.

Many hands make light work, and fingers crossed for sunshine!

☕ Free Amherst Island Coffee Co coffee for all volunteers to say thanks for pitching in.

The BK will be open for business that day too, so swing by, lend a hand for an hour or two, and help us get ready for another great season on the island.
