The sad reality of our garlic this season. I’m sure we’re all sick about hearing how the weather really effed farmers this summer but we had to share an explanation as things looked ok at harvest! Due to the significant rainfall and humid conditions even after the garlic was pulled, we have significant loss of our crop.
Why? Likely because the bulbs were wet at harvest and then they weren’t able to dry properly while hanging because the conditions were still wet.
So we were left with many bulbs having to be thrown out because they were soft and moldy.
It’s disappointing as we put a lot of time, hard work and money into this crop but some things are completely out of our hands and this is one of those things.
The good news is we still have garlic to sell and we will be able to get garlic into everyone’s hands who is on our list. But we have decided to put a limit on how much everyone can purchase so we can ensure all of our customers can at least get some AND so we can keep some to plant.
We hate disappointing people but I don’t know that there’s anything we could have done differently.
There’s always next year.
I’m just about done packing the garlic and then we will reach out to everyone on our list!

**UPDATE: CLOSED DUE TO FROST**
🎃 SELF SERVE PUMPKIN STAND 🎃

Our remaining pumpkins have all been loaded up and hauled just down the road from us at another yard on our property where you can come and have a look at your convenience! You can pay by cash (in a locked drop box) or e-transfer. Everything is organized on pallets and clearly labeled with pricing based on size of pumpkin.

They will remain there until we are sold out or until we get frost, whichever comes first!

Additional market details:

1. Please park on our driveway in front of the house and walk down to the pumpkin patch located right behind our greenhouse.
2. If you plan to purchase multiple pumpkins, a wagon is a good idea to bring along. We only have one that will be available to use.
3. Please don’t pick up pumpkins by the stems. They are very prickly and can break off easily.
4. Don’t forget to bring cash! That’s all we can accept at this time.
5. Kids are so welcome! We would love to see you bring your kiddos so they can pick out their own pumpkins. Just keep in mind you are responsible for your own children and need to have eyes on them at all times. It is a working farm we live on. We do have a playset the kids can play on at their own risk and assuming your own responsibility. We have a trampoline as well but will kindly ask your kids not to play on there at this time to prevent any injuries. We appreciate your respect to our property and our wishes.
6. We will have a cute photo opp set up so you are more than welcome to bring the family and get some fun harvest pictures! Sunflowers are also still in bloom so you can take a stroll through our pathway to the field where you are welcome to take as many pictures as you want! 🌻
7. We have all of the pumpkins hauled out of the patch and on display this year to make it easier if you’re looking for a certain kind or color.
8. Be mindful of wasps especially around the sunflowers! Tis the season 🐝
9. There are no bathrooms on site so please keep that mind especially with children.
