A hot, dry and dusty day followed by a cold and wet day.

So glad this task is finished up just in time for turkey dinner tomorrow!

Wow. I am completely blown away this year. We grew the most garlic we’ve ever grown and before I could even post it for sale, you guys sold me out in less than a week! Thank you so much for your business and support, it means the world to us! And we’re so glad you love that homegrown Alberta garlic as much as we do.

A few things to know and keep in mind for our pumpkin market tomorrow:

1. Due to the unfortunate colder summer this year, pumpkin quantities are lower than expected. It is best to get here early on Sunday if you have specific pumpkins in mind that you are wanting!

2. Please park on our driveway in front of the house and walk down to the pumpkin patch located right behind our greenhouse.

3. If you plan to purchase multiple pumpkins, a wagon is a good idea to bring along. There will be a couple on site to use if you don’t have one.

4. Please don’t pick up pumpkins by the stems. They are very prickly and can break off easily.

5. Don’t forget to bring cash! That’s all we can accept at this time.

6. Kids are so welcome! We would love to see you bring your kiddos so they can pick out their own pumpkins. Just keep in mind you are responsible for your own children and need to have eyes on them at all times. It is a working farm we live on. We do have a playset the kids can play on at their own risk and assuming your own responsibility. We have a trampoline as well but will kindly ask your kids not to play on there at this time to prevent any injuries. We appreciate your respect to our property and our wishes.

7. We will have a cute photo opp set up so you are more than welcome to bring the family and get some fun harvest pictures!

8. We only have pumpkins this year, no garlic or sunflowers. Garlic is still hanging and sunflowers are done for the season.

9. We have all of the pumpkins hauled out of the patch and on display this year to make it easier if you’re looking for a certain kind or color.

Black futsu squash ✨🫶🏻
Tried for a couple years to grow these and finally was *almost* fully successful this year. They are a Japanese heirloom pumpkin with a rich, nutty taste. They are also the most beautiful decorative pumpkins as well. If we had better weather this summer, they likely would have started to change color to an orange/brown/pink. But I’m very happy with the black and almost fuzzy look to them 😍😍😍

Ok, the long awaited pumpkin update.

Full stop, it hasn’t been the best growing conditions for pumpkins this year. The plants and pumpkins are all beautiful and healthy but it seems as though they just have not all been able to develop as much as they should have by now. Growth is SLOW. Pumpkins LOVE heat and they really thrive in hot summers with adequate moisture. Unfortunately, this summer has delivered with the rain but not so much with the heat. Alberta summers make it tricky to grow pumpkins as there’s not much wiggle room from last frost to first frost.

So as of right now I don’t have any information to share on how and when we will be selling our pumpkins. I’m hoping and praying with this last little bit of summer heat we will see some positive changes! Who knows there could be lots of surprises hiding under those vines at harvest time 😂🫠🙏🏻
There are some real beauties growing out there so we are staying optimistic!
