Pumpkin Season in the Grounded Kitchen starts on the savoury side with a Jamaican Pumpkin Curry featuring a super flavourful, homemade spice blend.
Blending up my own spice mixes is something I’ve been doing for many years. This allows me more control over the taste profile as well as the freedom to add in herbs that I’ve grown myself or that have been grown with love by friends. Because the most prominent spices in Jamaican Curry blends are turmeric and allspice (and scotch bonnet, of course), in this beautiful blend, I have included Allspice from Belize, grown and gifted by my dear friend Laurie Michelle. Every time I pull that jar of allspice berries from my cabinet, I am reminded of the love of our friendship & the love and reverence that she has for the plants and the land that she stewards with her husband in Belize.
Food that is grown and made with love ALWAYS tastes better! This dish and this spice blend are proof;)
