It was wonderful to see so many people at yesterday’s Summerland Mega Market and to welcome visitors back to the winery this weekend. After everything our community has been through, your support means more than you may realize.

We’re open today for Labour Day. Come visit us, enjoy a relaxed tasting and take in one of the best views in Summerland.

Ever wonder why traditional-method sparkling wine takes so long?

Here’s Sébastien doing remuage, or riddling, by hand.

Each bottle is gradually turned and tilted so the yeast sediment created during the second fermentation moves toward the neck of the bottle. Eventually that sediment can be removed during disgorgement.

It’s one of the many steps between making the wine and finally popping the cork.

No shortcuts. Just a lot of bottles, a lot of patience, and Sébastien getting a pretty good arm workout.

This is how we make traditional-method sparkling wine at Lightning Rock, right here in Summerland.

Come taste the results. We’re open daily from 11–5 through Thanksgiving.

After three weeks away, a lot of cleaning, and more than a few unexpected adventures, it feels pretty good to put this sign back up.

Lightning Rock is open today from 11–5.

And we’re now open every day, 11–5 through Thanksgiving.

Thank you to everyone who checked on us, sent messages, ordered wine and supported our restaurant and private liquor store partners while we were closed.

Now we’d really like to see you in person.
