A salute to Lori Hubbert as a key to any successes we may achieve. While not a record in production per tap the 7,000 extra taps with a very good crop did result in more maple syrup than ever. Lori can be counted on for her farm brightening smile no matter the challenge. For the next 10 months any naps can be achieved in places other than the Sugarhouse! Thank you to all our wonderful customers who help support our family farm.

Tonight it is collapsing from fatigue. The season is in its final day(s). Many have finished already but not to be denied (with a few nights frost in the forecast) Xaver cleaned tanks and releasers at Whitestone and Bill did the same in Hartfell on Sunday. This and being diligent around the Sugarhouse will give us the stronger year end maple syrup. This may be the last night taking timed naps and waking to perform the next tasks through the early hours.

Team Work makes the dream work! Tonight we celebrate surpassing what we consider an average crop by filling barrel #250 of the season. Not many days left but this was a big milestone to add 7,000 trees and still collect around 60 litres per taphole yielding 1.5 litees of syrup. (1,440,000 litres of sap collected so far). Its an awesome team but for a picture we had to show our leader and quality control person who fills almost every barrel. Thanks Lori you smile for #250 same as #1. Pretty sure in a few days you will be happy to see the last one@

Currently we are experiencing a significant rain event. While the rain has stimulated sap flow we are temporarily out of reach for most visitors. Stay safe all.

Often people ask us what's different in our approach. Our philosophy is "there is no try, only do or do not" (stolen from Yoda of Starwars fame). When the weather calls for several frost free days we dont wait to see what will happen. We go out find a way to make it happen. We connect a hose to a sap source and pressure wash all our remote tanks with sap as per this picture. We then patrol our tubing system in the rain and tighten up the system to maximize sap collection.

A big thank you to all our many relatives, friends, groups and organizations that helped make the 3rd annual ALMAGUIN MAPLE FESTIVAL a great success. It would be impossible to name you all so we selected a friend of Bills to represent all of you. James is the man who greeted attendees at the intersection of Maple Valley Road and Pevensey road giving parking directions. He has been a friend of Bills for over 12 years and Bills current truck is named after him (so he can jump in the truck and say "home James" at the end of a long day). James helped build the warehouse (his specialty is roofing) and currently devotes some of his spare time to the Kearney fire department.

Thanks to you all for stepping up to help build this special community event.

Never to early to volunteer if you are keen to help on the first Saturday in April 2027 is the next one.

Safe travels "home James"
