Sloat's Lake Farm Our Farm is name after Lieutenant Michael Sloat (a U.E.L.) Our farm is to the East of the Honour stand about 100 feet. We use NO artificial fertilizers.

who came to develop Loughborough Township... Sydenham Lake was originally Sloat's Lake on maps up to 1861 and Sydenham was originally called Sloat's Landing or just Loughborough... We are selling about 20 different kinds of vegetables (and some fruit) when in season from our HONOUR STAND on Alton Road East just north of Sydenham Village. We sell only vegetables that are grown here (no resale). Ou

r vegetables are grown WITHOUT the use of pesticides or herbicides and we use well rotted and composted manure mainly from horses but sometime sheep, pigs and chickens. We purchase our seeds from seed companies that provide Organic and heirloom seed. The vegetables we usually produce or will be growing are: Beets, brussels sprouts, carrots, collards, corn, kale, leeks, head lettuces, onions, peas, peppers, potatoes, pumpkins, spinach, tomatoes, radishes, watermelons and (mainly next year) strawberries and raspberries. The only thing we sell not from here are peaches, nectarines and apricots. Our Farm is named in honour of my Great Grandfather Lieutenant Michael Henry Sloat the original UEL Settler to come to Loughborough Township. He set up the first mill at his own expense and Sydenham Lake was original named Sloat's Lake. The mill was sold after his death in 1833.
