Today we turned the page on a big chapter of our property and farm. When we purchased our property, their was not much left of what used to be a working farm.
We would see signs, large piles of field rocks, old clearings, old roads and old piles of junk. One day when clearing a section of land for our first greenhouse we stumbled upon a graveyard of old saddles, chaps, harnesses, horse shoes and old rotten leather it was another reminder of what used to be.
We have heard what are basically folk tales from old neighbour's on the street who would proclaim to us "they were cutting hay here 40 years ago", we would look to where they were pointing and mature forest with 25 foot ever greens reigned.
But the day we got here, this old dump truck, was waiting for us. It didn't run and was full of extra scrap metal in the bed, making it very heavy and not easy to move.
Recently we found an old photo album hiding in our basement from 1970, with pictures showing that old dump truck hauling hay to a barn that no longer exists. I don't know why, but this ignited a fire in us. Feeling more passionate than ever, this property must return to its roots, FARMING.
Today we finally turn the chapter of that old farm as we wave good by to the old dump truck, and with that we will finally be able to start(continue) writting our own chapter for this farm.
