A suspected break-in at a poultry facility in Nova Scotia has led to the loss of nearly 10,000 chickens.

According to Lunenburg District RCMP, officers responded to an incident at a barn located in Pine Grove on Saturday, July 25. Authorities believe that the intrusion occurred late the previous night, when an unknown individual entered the premises and turned off the barn’s ventilation system.

As a result, the birds were left without proper airflow, leading to their deaths.

At this time, nothing appears to have been taken from the property. Police have not identified any suspects and the motive behind the incident remains unknown.
