It was a busy day today.

As Tim and I were getting ready to go finish steeling a roof that we've spent the last couple of days on I got a call that Terry & Ryan were free to come work on our driveway to our sugarcamp.

Our culvert in the lane was starting to bust through from years of plowing snow and use and in the fall last year we had to start marking the hole with a pylon to avoid making it any worse before it could be worked on.

Since we use the camp through the winter and early spring we wanted to make sure it was done far enough away from the season that it would settle properly and we wouldn't get stuck in it while trying to use the forklift to refill our pallets of firewood...

We went up, hauled the culverts down against the building and went over what all wanted done before we left for the roof.

Mom luckily sent me sneak peeks all day, updating me as to how the work was going. So I wasn't completely out of the loop, and I sent her back updates of our day as well.

Ps: a side note of the day is that we also heard from his doctor that Dad is getting appointments for more recent bloodwork and some scans so she knows exactly where he's at right now, and it sounded like she had been in contact with the pharmacy as well in the last little while trying to figure everything out and see about appealing for exemption status on a couple of dad's more expensive meds....it's so nice to see her being so attentive to his needs and situation. Very much looking forward to seeing where she gets with everything.

We had recently talked to a social worker who helped coordinate some appointments for Dad. Occupational therapy, continuing care services and such.

We have had wonderful experiences with everyone ,meeting some great people, and finding out that there were more programs that Mom and Dad could apply for and have access to.

We also were put in touch with a Nurse Practioner in Pugwash that has now agreed to take Dad on as a patient which is a huge relief.

Having someone that follows and guides his journey with all things medical is going to be such a help in making sure that the right decisions are being made and that someone understands everything that is going on.

Finished off the great appointment with a meal out together, something that he doesn't get to do enough of.

Here's looking forward to continuing to make life better and easier for everyone.

How is it already June 🤯

Tim and I both booked appointments for today and we're going to enjoy some Christmas presents that Tim's family kindly gave us while we were working our butts off to get ready for our last maple season..... Thanks guys.....

We have stayed busy long enough that we knew it was time to work out some aches and pains...

I've been to chiropractors before, but this will be my first proper massage, so we'll see how it goes!

Tim went and had an appointment not too long after maple season ended and said that she is AMAZING and that I will really enjoy having my (always tight and sore) shoulders and neck done by her.

This might be a mistake, cause after this I might want to come back more often 🤪

A nice heavy garbage bin we made up for Mom and Dad.

Tim made the box and I helped line it with the hardware cloth and be his extra set of hands.

Good to have something now to keep the crows and other critters out of their garbage bags.

They have a big bunch of crows that live at the bottom of the field below the house, they're always making big bunches of noise these days with all the babies they've hatched for the year...better safe than sorry.

Had a beautiful day yesterday for doing firewood.
We have almost 4 pallets of wood left over from last season, 2 more pallets worth of wood sitting on the hill that Dad and I gathered last year that we can out onto pallets to dry better and have since gathered almost 5.5 more pallets of wood this past week.

We are well on our way to the minimum of 18 pallets that we need tucked away to burn next season, and there are still more piles of camp wood that was cut last year that need gathered up before all of a sudden the ferns are too high and the brush is too thick to find piles of wood thats laying around.

Once the camp wood is all gathered we'll go around and gather up more house wood that has been cut ahead to get that stacked and drying in the field, but luckily we have most of what we need this year for that already and thanks to some great neighbors that came to help we even have had a day of splitting and filling Mom & Dad's basement already.

We've got to build a support wall in the basement before we can stack what is down there to make room for more to go in, but right now we're trying to use some of the cool mornings to get our wood out before the days heat up and the black flies come out in force.

We used today wisely to make 2 batches of Granulated maple sugar, and heat up/pour a batch of cream at the house.

We still have to get everything packaged up yet, but it was certainly a good day to work inside rather than trying to get something done in that heat today.

We really need to get to the woods and start sawing/collecting firewood for the evaporator before it gets too hot to work at it by mid day.

So many things to do, but ya really have to get them done in the order that the weather demands.
Luckily we have a good chunk of the firewood ahead for mom/dad's house and are in pretty good shape for mine as well.

As I work ahead at camp wood all of the house piles can sit and dry in the sun and wind for months yet.

Worked at clearing out the Gulley today.
Mom and Dad haven't been able to see much at the camp when the leaves come out the last year or two and have a hard time seeing if the mail gets delivered.

So now they feel less claustrophobic hidden in behind the trees/brush.
And the dogs should do a whole lot less barking at the animals that were coming up near the house...there was even a bear sitting in the top of the apple tree at one point not too awful long ago.

I forgot to get a picture of it at the end of the day. But it's very nice to have down.
And Dad came out for the beautiful day to point out some plum trees to save in there and watch the progress.

It was nice to enjoy his company out in the fresh air, he'll be doing more of that all the time now hopefully.
