Coop Cleaning 🐓
It's that time of year to do a deep clean of your coops before winter !! ❄️
We have some small tips for you to utilize this fall:
》Use Diatomaceous Earth
DE powder sprinkled lightly in a thin layer onto the coop floor before bedding it will help to absorb moisture, control odors, and deter unwanted crawly friends such as mites & lice🕷
Ensure that chickens are not in the coop while spreading the powder, and wear a mask/respirator to prevent respiratory irritation until the dust settles and the coop is bedded.

》Use shavings instead of straw🌾
Shavings absorb moisture more evenly, and they do not pack/mat down the way that straw does, effectively making mold and mites less likely to be harboring inside of your coop! They are also 10x easier to clean out that wet, yucky straw. Shavings also don't hold odor the way that straw does, preventing that yucky ammonia smell.

》Hang feeders & waterers from the ceilings of your coop if possible
This prevents spillage & prevents the chickens from kicking shavings into it and creating wastage.
99% of the feeders we stock come with a handle or loop to attach rope to hang them in the air !
