Today the world is a little quieter and a little less safe on Bent Fence Farm. Today Bent Fence lost Bob. Bob the Good Boy. Bob Barker, The B**b, The Big Boo, the B**beroni, the B**ble.
As many of you know, Boo was struggling with some health issues. Today, Bob lost the fight.
We got Bob nearly 8 years ago and he was the most incredibly loving guardian puppy. Bob's dad was one of the nicest guardian dogs we had ever met. Bob's dad was kind and patient and attuned, so even though Bob was born with entropion in both his eyes, we took him.
Bob and Doug struggled in the beginning trying to figure each other out. And by 'struggled', we mean Bob wanted to be Doug's bestie and Doug wanted nothing to do with the B**b. They slid into an easy tempo until Bob was older and a "threat" according to Doug. Much of their relationship in later life was managed by the farm managers.
Bob and Mac were the tightest of buddies for as long as Mac and Bob were here together. When Mac was a young Prairie Piranha, she hung off Bob's face. Poor Bob, never said a word, he simply managed with a face and neck full of baby heeler sized puncture wounds.
Bob hauled whole deer carcasses home to eat. He trained every guardian we have how to protect, how to be kind, how to be patient, and how to love. Bob was the most patient teacher, Uncle Boo, if you will. He trained Rory and Freya how to be calm and patient. Bob protected everyone on this Farm from two legged and four legged alike.
Bob the Good Boy was deeply loved and he will be deeply missed by all of us at Bent Fence Farm. Thank you to everyone single person who walked beside us while we tried to save Bob's life. We can never repay the debt. Please think of him tonight and hug your dogs.
