Come harvest your own bulk herbs ☀️

I haven't been active in the gardens this summer. This was going to be the summer I finally got back to the plants, after dedicating all my free time to a massive external project last year. The universe decided it has other things in store for me year, though.

So the garden being in fallow is the way it is, and that's okay. The bees and the toads and tiny whiskered creatures are making the dense underbrush of herbs their microsmic jungle. That is its own magic.
But all of this beautiful medicine is here, and I know there are people who could be accessing it.

In season this week:
꩜ Motherwort
꩜ St. John's Wort

About to bloom:
꩜ Mugwort
꩜ Common hyssop
꩜ Bee balm
꩜ Wild goldenrod

Shoot me a message if you'd like to come by to harvest and we can figure out the details.

✨ Learn the art and science of crafting potent herbal oils, salves, and tinctures. This is an environment friendly for both beginners intermediates embarking upon the plant path.

🤓 What you get:

🌿 Hands on instruction: Participants will craft an herbal tincture and herbal infused oil, which you will take home in 125 ml jars. Due to the seasonal nature of growing and harvesting plant medicines, the herb materials we work with will be a combination of fresh and/or dried. Salves are not made on site, but are covered in:

🌿 A digital 30+ page booklet packed full of information to continue making simple yet effective herbal medicines at home, beyond the basics information to encourage further learning, and recommended resources.

🌿 A digital tincture log worksheet for your future use in making tinctures at home.

🌿 About 2-3 hours spent in a lovely location with lovely people, meeting the plants to learn about their qualities, and learning more about our collective birthright to access autonomous, earth-based care for our wellbeing.

Spots are limited for each class, so sign up before they fill!

Hi, it's me, it's been a while. I've been quiet on the facebook front, but here is something I never shared previously:

Over a year ago now, December 2024, I finally finished my program with Wild Rose College of Herbal Medicine 🌹🍄🌿

I started this program in the early winter of 2021 - only a few weeks after I unexpectedly and tearfully dropped out of uni. Something that in my mind I really didn't want to do, but in my bones I felt I needed to (many reasons).

It was also a couple of months after I lost my mom that September. She wanted me so badly to at least finish my degree even though I was already on the fence, and I agreed with the logic... but for the longest time after, I held so much shame and regret for leaving uni. I felt like I had completely let her down.

Now I know how far from the truth that is. As soon as I enrolled in this program it became clear. I obviously would prefer to have my mom still with us over anything, but losing her was a catalyst that burned away everything that wasn't meant for me. I know that she's proud of me, for going after something that speaks to what I'm meant to do.

I busted my butt finishing this over three years while simultaneously starting a new day time career (in which those first two summers I wanted the earth to just swallow me whole), starting Hearthstone (say hello to farming all day at work and continuing upon getting home until bed time), and moving into our first home.

I think I was quiet about this because I know that at the end of the day, having a piece of paper isn't what makes anyone an herbalist.

My hope for this year is to carve out time for delivering workshops again, taking yet another step back from products (not 100% don't worry), and more importantly, sitting back down with the plants themselves to return to communion.

Thanks for reading 💠

🌿 Nettles nettles nettles 🌿

Fresh & vibrant & zingy prickling from the inside out

Reminding me that to understand the earth is to understand magic

𖦹

When my mother was very sick with Lyme disease, and then again with cancer, she spoke with and leaned on nettles like you would an old friend. So I think of her when I am with nettles. I speak to her and tell her things she loves to hear, and I remember.

𖦹

If you don't know nettles I really encourage meeting this plant. An absolute powerhouse in so many ways. A forward moving & energetic treasure trove of awe & amazement.

Urtication for arthritis and deep seated rheumatic pain 𖦹 minerals upon minerals upon minerals 𖦹 support for all walks of life for all sorts of needs, all parts of the plant 𖦹 food and medicine and fiber and holy wonder

🌿

I planted the nettle patch last spring and they took their time getting established, which taught me patience and devotional diligence ~ this spring they are bushy and reaching for the sun & withstanding frost

I will be saving most of the harvest for personal use... remembering to look after myself and take my own medicine so to speak is an area for improvement. Some plants will grow tall and woody and I'll coax out the fiber. Others will become prolific, offering bountiful seed, providing potent energy for when it's needed most

If there is more than what I need I will let people know ✨️

What have you done with nettles? What would you like to try?
