There’s a part of the AfroGourmets story I haven’t talked about much.

I went through a very painful chapter. I experienced racism and discrimination, and there were moments when leaving felt like the easier option.

But I kept thinking about my children.

I didn’t want what happened to me to decide where we could live, what we could build, or how our story here would end.

So I made a decision.

I would stay. And I would use everything I had.

My experience.
My creativity.
My culture.
My hands.
My food.
My ability to bring people together.

AfroGourmets didn’t come from the pain.

But building it became one of the ways I chose to respond to that pain.

I didn’t have a perfect plan. I still don’t. 😂

But I knew I wasn’t going to let one painful chapter write the rest of our story.

So I stayed.

And I built.

And here we are. ❤️
