This week we are showcasing two exceptional values from Bordeaux from the much heralded 2018 vintage.

Back in stock is one of the great hidden gems in the prestigious St-Emilion appellation - Château Haut-Segottes. Located just a stone's throw from Château Cheval Blanc, Danielle Meunier is the 4th generation in her family to take up reigns at the estate, and continues to craft a restrained, elegant expression of St-Emilion.

And from the Left Bank, the 2018 Margaux from Cru Bourgeois estate Château Paveil de Luze. Classic and thoughtfully crafted, this Cabernet Sauvignon-based red always sells out quickly on arrival. Pascal and Jean-Marc Verhaeghe are continuing the great work their father and mother, Charles and Marie Thérèse, began in the 1950s in the small village of Vire-sur-Lot in the Lot River Valley. After his father immigrated to the region from Belgium during the Great War, Charles later met Marie Thérèse, and they planted their first 5 hectares of vines in 1958.

Over the course of the last fifty years, that hard work and dedication of Charles, and the continuation of this work by Pascal and Jean-Marc, Château du Cèdre has become THE quantitative reference in the Cahors appellation. Working organically since 2000, certified since 2012, Pascal and Jean-Marc seek to build terroir-driven, polished examples of Malbec that have impeccable balance and are exceptionally age-worthy.

When it comes to white Burgundy, Pierre Morey is legendary. The family estate dates back to 1793. For 20 years, from 1988 to July 2008, Pierre Morey became the iconic manager of Domaine Leflaive in Puligny-Montrachet. Anne, Pierre’s daughter, joined the family estate around 1997, when they had fully converted the vineyards to organic and biodynamic farming.

This week we have a selection of sun-kissed, Mediterranean reds to inspire you to get out an enjoy the spring weather. A perennial favourite, currently available is the 2023 Syrah from Yves Cuilleron, which is a superb value delivering a Northern Rhône experience with a Southern Rhône price point.

Also new to Ontario, we are pleased to introduce you to Domaine Chaume-Arnaud, a family domaine based in the cru of Vinsorbes in the Southern Rhône. Certified biodynamic, their 2021 Côtes du Rhône is an energetic and juicy expression of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault and a remarkable value for this artisanal, thoughtfully-crafted Mediterranean red.

Amiot-Servelle, who’s roots begin in 1920, is an amalgam of two important Côte de Nuits families - that of Jean Servelle in Chambolle and Christian Amiot of Morey-Saint-Denis, who married Elisabeth Servelle in 1975. Since 2011, their daughter Prune has been running the domaine.

Located in the village of Chambolle-Musigny, the family farms their 7 hectares of vines certified organic. Among their parcels, the family has holdings in 6 premier cru vineyards, including Les Amoreuses. This premier cru is widely regarded as on par with the great Grand Cru vineyards of the Côtes de Nuits. It is situated on a terraced, steep slope directly below the Le Musigny Grand Cru and has poor limestone soils that are key to producing a pinot noir that impeccably balances intensity and delicacy, concentration and finesse.

The region of Epanomi, which was established in 1989, is located in the southwest corner of Thessaloniki in central Macedonia. The vineyards are located on the edge of the Thermatic Gulf, with bodies of water on three sides, which helps to bring cooling sea breezes to the area and moderate its Mediterranean climate.

The region’s favourable microclimate makes it ideal for a large number of indigenous and international grape varieties to thrive. What is truly home on the slopes of Epanomi is the native white variety, Malagousia, which was saved from near extinction by Vangelis Gerovassiliou. This grape is known to produce white w**es that are full bodied, richly aromatically with notes of white flowers, peaches and flecked with green herbal nuances, and balancing acidity.

This week we are excited to offer two classic examples of Sangiovese from the Pacenti family's vineyards in the hillsides of Montalcino. First up, the 2022 Rosso di Montalcino, a great early-drinking "baby Brunello." Also available is their 2019 Brunello di Montalcino, which is consistently ranked vintage after vintage as on of the best value Brunellos in the region.

Franco Pacenti's roots in Tuscany date back to the 13th century, and today they farm their 10 hectares of vineyards certified organic. They were also one of the founding 25 members of the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, an appellation that is host to more than 200 producers today.

The Chermette family's roots date back to the 18th century in the hamlet of Le Vissoux in Saint-Vérand in southern Beaujolais. Today Martine, Pierre-Marie and Jean-Etienne Chermette run the estate.

At the heart of the Chermette range is the Les Griottes bottling from their vineyards in Saint-Vérand. The soil here is granite, similar to that of the Beaujolais Crus, and this helps to give more structure to the w**es. The family also farms vineyards in several crus including Brouilly, Fleurie and Moulin-à-Vent.
