Today I had the opportunity to tour in Cobourg with Meghan, and Iโ€™m incredibly grateful for the time she took to show me behind the scenes. ๐Ÿ™

From the cold storage and freezers โ„๏ธ to the sorting area ๐Ÿ“ฆ and food distribution space ๐Ÿฅ•, I got to see firsthand how much care, coordination, and community effort goes into feeding neighbours who need support.

What stood out most was this:

โค๏ธ The need is growing.

And while access to food matters deeply, so does access to healthy, nutrient-dense food.

Everyone deserves fresh food that helps people truly thrive. ๐ŸŒฑ

Farming is not always birds singing and nature humming. This winter, it was sometimes frozen knuckles, stubborn bolts, and a delivery truck that really doesnโ€™t want to cooperate. ๐Ÿ˜…

My 9-year-old Grace got a firsthand lesson in the glamorous world of farm mechanics this winter. She learned that keeping fresh organic veggies moving from our farm to your family sometimes involves equal parts problem-solving, patienceโ€ฆ and a few words we probably shouldnโ€™t repeat. ๐Ÿ˜‚

But honestly, I loved having her beside meโ€”learning that hard things can be frustrating and worth figuring out. Farming isnโ€™t just growing food; itโ€™s fixing what breaks, adapting when plans change, and raising resilient kids along the way. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿššโ„๏ธ

Winter threw it's best punches at usโ€ฆ but weโ€™re not done yet ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’ช

I used to think pipelines meant cheaper gas.
After working in oilโ€”and watching how this actually plays outโ€”itโ€™s a bit more complicated.

Pipelines can be good for the economy.
But they donโ€™t really protect us from global price spikes at the pump.

So the real question is:
what actually gives us more control and what's better in the long term?

We currently deliver throughout Durham and Northumberland for $10 per box, and also offer free pickup at:

Caught this just in time! These transmission coolant hoses were about ready to blow โ€” one more run down the DVP and Iโ€™d have been that guy leaving a trail of oil through downtown Toronto with a trailer that says Cold Springs Organics on the side. ๐Ÿซฃ

Not exactly the best way to sell organic veggiesโ€ฆ although it might have drained onto the exhaust, in which case the fire mightโ€™ve got us on TV. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ˜…
