around 1/3 of Canadians have low vitamin D, and it’s the number one deficiency present in the country. in the winter, this number goes to ~40% of people with low vitamin D 😯

sun exposure between march - october (done safely for your skin type) is the most efficient way when it comes to vitamin D. foods + a good quality supplement come second, but are necessary given that many people don’t get as much sun exposure these days. ☀️ the foods listed are for vitamin D3 - it’s more effective in raising vitamin D levels than D2.

Note: it’s more efficient to get our vitamin A from sources of retinol than beta-carotene. Beta-carotene is converted into retinol, but at a ratio of 12:1. It’s best if we get our needs met from both categories. 🐟🥕
