The MICHELIN Guide will unveil its first-ever Ch*****ne W**e Selection on 4 February 2027, introducing its MICHELIN Grape distinction to one of the world's most celebrated w**e regions.

Following Burgundy and Bordeaux, Ch*****ne is next to receive this recognition, marking an important milestone in the region's evolving fine w**e identity.

🍇 FROM PRESTIGIOUS MAISONS TO TERROIR

Long celebrated for its iconic Ch*****ne houses and mastery of blending, the region is experiencing a renewed focus on vineyard identity, individual parcels and terroir-driven expressions.

Both established maisons and independent grower-producers are contributing to this transformation.

The new MICHELIN distinction could introduce an additional dimension to how international visitors discover Ch*****ne.

Beyond its prestigious houses, the region offers extraordinary vineyard landscapes, historic cellars, independent growers and exceptional cultural heritage.

🏛️ Its UNESCO-listed Ch*****ne Hillsides, Houses and Cellars encompass historic vineyards around Hautvillers, Aÿ and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Saint-Nicaise Hill in Reims and the celebrated Avenue de Ch*****ne in Épernay.

The forthcoming MICHELIN selection could complement established w**e routes, encouraging travellers to discover individual estates, explore lesser-known producers and experience Ch*****ne through its distinctive terroirs.

✨ THE BIGGER PICTURE

For Ch*****ne, this is about more than w**e recognition.

It represents another opportunity to strengthen the region's international positioning at the intersection of fine w**e, gastronomy, cultural heritage and experiential tourism.

🇮🇹🍷 Italy’s W**e Tourism Strategy – Part 2 From National Policy to Regional Investment

How Italy's new funding program is turning w**e tourism policy into regional investment.
Italy is taking another significant step towards positioning w**e tourism as a driver of regional economic development.

Building on its national w**e tourism strategy, the government is offering up to 50% financial support for eligible w**e tourism projects under its 2026–2027 program.

🍇 WHAT WILL THE FUNDING SUPPORT?

🍷 W**ery visits, vineyard experiences and tastings🗺️ W**e tourism routes and destination promotion🏛️ Regional w**e heritage and cultural experiences🤝 Collaboration between w**e producers and appellation consortia🌍 Stronger regional identities and international competitiveness

An important distinction: Individual w**eries cannot apply independently. Funding is directed towards eligible collective organizations, including w**e consortia and producer associations.

📅 Application deadline: December 15, 2026

Italy's approach offers an important policy model for other w**e-producing countries to examine.

W**e tourism is no longer simply about visiting w**eries - it is becoming a strategic component of regional economic development.

What if the next major investment in w**e tourism wasn't a luxury hotel or tasting room - but professional education? 🍇

🇮🇹 Sicily is taking an important step forward with the launch of the DOC Sicilia Academy, a new initiative designed to strengthen the region's w**e tourism capabilities.

Announced by the Consorzio di Tutela Vini DOC Sicilia, the Academy focuses on three strategic priorities:
🍷 W**e Tourism & Hospitality - Enhancing visitor experiences and professional standards.

💻 Innovation & Technology - Strengthening w**ery operations and competitiveness.

🌿 Sustainability - Advancing energy efficiency and responsible resource management.

With approximately 8,000 w**egrowers and 500 bottlers, Sicilia DOC has the potential to influence hospitality standards across an entire w**e region.

Why does this matter?

Because successful w**e tourism is no longer just about opening cellar doors.

It's about creating exceptional visitor experiences, developing professional expertise and strengthening the competitiveness of destinations.

Sicily is demonstrating that investing in people can be just as important as investing in infrastructure.

🌍 A model other w**e regions should be watching.

Do you think professional w**e tourism education should become a priority for w**e regions worldwide?

🇮🇹 Italy Make W**e Tourism National Policy

Italy is taking w**e tourism beyond the cellar door — and into national policy.

A new national framework will support w**e tourism across Italy’s w**e-producing regions, including w**ery visits, regional events, W**e Roads, territorial promotion and digital tools to help travellers discover and plan w**e routes.

But the bigger story is what this represents.

Italy is recognizing w**e tourism as a tool for destination development — connecting w**eries with gastronomy, hospitality, culture, landscapes and rural communities.

At a time when traditional w**e regions face declining consumption and economic pressures, this approach offers an important international model.

Because a w**e tourist doesn’t simply buy a bottle.

They stay. They dine. They explore. They experience the region and their spending remains within the destination.
Should w**e tourism now be considered part of national w**e policy rather than simply an extension of w**ery hospitality?

Italy appears to think so.
