If you could summarize 2024 in one picture, which one would you share?
From the hundreds—dare I say thousands—of photos taken on my iPhone this year, one stands out above all others. Although 2024 brought numerous personal and professional achievements, and I was incredibly fortunate to travel to breathtaking places around the globe, this particular photo earns the title of my favorite for the year.
Captured with my iPhone 11 Pro (unedited) on an early morning walk at the base of my street in the Beaches, Toronto, this image captured so much for me. I was out with my sweet little dog, Sunday—my best buddy—as I always am. But that morning was different. The scene before me took my breath away, and I had to pause. I simply stood there, absorbing the moment.
This photo reminds me to be present, to truly see and appreciate what’s right in front of me. It’s a reflection of gratitude—for the beauty around me, but also for the growth and resilience within me.
For me, 2024 was a year of slow but meaningful transitions, both personally and professionally. I’ve made more time for reflection, and with each passing day, I’ve felt the quiet power of presence. There’s still much work to be done on my personal growth, but I’ve already noticed how transformative it is to take a moment each day to simply be aware of where I am and how I feel.
I hope you, too, have a moment, a photograph, or even a simple snapshot on your phone that captures how you’ve lived in 2024. I challenge you to share one picture that defines your year.
