Chateau de Mus is in Murviel-Les-Beziers in the Languedoc region, in the production area Occitanie (former Languedoc-Roussillon). It represents one of the largest archaeological sites in Hérault, dating back to at least 800 BC. The estate was named after an ancient fortified place called “Murus” (‘city wall’ in Latin), built up on a cliff over the Orb river. The estate, which features a Renaissance-style castle, was purchased by the Julien family in 2004. Owners Bernard and Marina Julien, along with their sons Yannick & Brice, represent the fourth and fifth generation of winemakers in their family. The Julien family practices sustainable agriculture. Chateau de Mus covers 250 acres, 200 of which are planted. The vineyard is planted to traditional grape varieties of the Languedoc’s AOP and Vin de Pays.

The property features 3 different soils - clay limestone, boulder and silt. They experience a typical Mediterranean climate; warm & dry. The winery is modern, with temperature controlled vinification playing a huge role in the quality process. Concrete tanks, stainless steel and open top fermenters are used for almost all their wines.
