ALERT! As it turns out, our carefully stewarded and regenerative organic farmland sits right in a proposed path of the high-speed train being fast tracked into existence without impact assessments or proper consultation, much to the chagrin of my rural neighbours. Suspicious of the corporate-political backroom deals behind this project, which is connected to SNC Lavalin. Sad to hear neighbours speak of prime farmland that was expropriated for the Pickering Airport that was never built.

Do you know how quickly weā€™re losing arable farmland in Ontario? While city dwellers may be excited about quick transport to the next city, many rural residents feel this is yet another undemocratic and unilateral decision by urban elites (no stops along the way, so the damage to ecosystems, local communities, and farmers has no benefits for the rural communities that will be disrupted). From conception, Canada has always been about land theft to benefit colonial elites, without care for people, non-human kin, or the health of the earth.
