Earth Haven Biodynamic Farm

Earth Haven Biodynamic Farm Aric and Kathryn Aunger are privileged to be the owners and caretakers of Earth Haven Farm.

A 200 acre certified organic (Demeter) biodynamic farm located in the hamlet of Thomasburg, Ontario just north of Belleville. This is a small scale subsistence farm that is dedicated to a sustainable lifestyle. We farm biodynamically, a tradition of organic farming with ancient roots and most recent re-discovered by Rudolf Steiner in the 1920s. We are Certified Organic through Demeter and are members of the Biodynamic Farming and Gardening Association.

Hello everyone,
We're still accepting sign ups for our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) vegetable box program.

How does the CSA program work?
The program will run from June to October. You may sign up to receive a box of produce either weekly or every other week. CSA members may also purchase additional items throughout the season. Pick up options this year will be from the farm on Fridays, and in Tweed and Belleville on Tuesdays. Prices are as follows: Visit our website to learn more.
Small weekly (18 weeks) $453
Small biweekly: (9 weeks) $227
Regular weekly: (18 weeks) $643
Regular biweekly: (9 weeks) $322
Please Note: Prices will increase by $25 after June 1st.

To sign up, please SIGN UP HERE or let me know as soon as possible as we expect it to fill quickly.

Can't commit to a full CSA?
You can place orders through our website at: https://earthhaven.ca/products/ and we will deliver your order to the same drop offs as the CSA bins (in Tweed and Belleville on Tuesdays, or from the farm on Fridays) from June to October.
Once availability of your order is confirmed we will ask you to pay ahead by e-transfer or cash upon delivery. Participants must place a minimum order of $20 at a time. We do not offer refunds if you fail to pick up your orders. Let us know if you would like to be on the Direct Orders Email List!
Note: We currently offer order pick up in Tweed on Tuesday afternoons.

Help Us Grow Our Belleville CSA
Want your veggies delivered even closer to home? We're looking to expand our Belleville drop-off sites. If selected as a host, you will earn 5% off your share for every new CSA member you recruit to your site. (That means if 10 people sign up to pick up from your location, you get 50% off your share). Click here to contact us about hosting.

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Becoming an Earth Haven Farm CSA member gives you a direct relationship with us, your farmers. Your membership provides you with much more than the weekly joy of receiving ultra-fresh, organic and locally grown produce. It provides you with education, the opportunity to try new food, and pride in the knowledge that you are reducing your environmental footprint and directly contributing to sustainable, local, organic farming while helping to support the next generation of farmers.

Reasons to Join a CSA?

Savour the unparalleled freshness and flavour of just-picked, locally grown organic produce straight from farm to table. Enjoy high-quality, seasonal produce. It is an investment in your health, your community, and the future of sustainable agriculture.

Support small-scale, sustainable farming practices that prioritize environmental stewardship, biodiversity, and humane animal husbandry.
Foster a deeper connection with the land, the farmers who tend it, and the nourishing food that springs forth from their dedication.
Become part of a vibrant community united by a shared passion for clean, wholesome food and a commitment to building a more resilient local food system.
Know exactly where your food comes from, how it was grown, and the hardworking individuals behind each delicious bite.

But the value of a CSA goes beyond just the monetary savings. When you join a CSA, you’re directly supporting local farmers and helping to sustain sustainable agriculture practices.

9 perennial vegetables you plant once and harvest for a decade or more.

ASPARAGUS - 20+ years of harvests. Zones 3-8. One crown produces $60/year in grocery store value.

RHUBARB - 15+ years. Virtually indestructible. Spring harvest when little else is producing.

WALKING ONIONS - Indefinite. They literally replant themselves. Zones 3-9.

JERUSALEM ARTICHOKE - Indefinite. 10 lbs per plant. Spreads aggressively (plant in a contained bed).

SORREL - 10+ years. Lemony greens ready weeks before lettuce.

LOVAGE - 10+ years. Tastes like celery but grows 6 feet tall. One plant replaces all the celery you buy.

GOOD KING HENRY - 10+ years. A spinach substitute that was a staple vegetable in Europe for centuries. Now almost forgotten.

HORSERADISH - Indefinite. Plant it once, try to stop it. You cannot.

SEA KALE - 10+ years. Blanched shoots were a Victorian delicacy. Hardy to Zone 4.

All of these survive Zone 5 winters. All are available at standard nurseries. None require replanting.

The annual vegetable industry would prefer you did not know about them.
