TAKOGUN (たこ章軍) | Vancouver Takoyaki is a new spot specializing in takoyaki, run by owners from Hong Kong. Their key ingredients, including the octopus, are imported straight from Japan, and the batter is made with a rich kombu and bonito dashi. Everything is made fresh to order.

Besides takoyaki, they also offer udon and rice bowls. I really recommend trying their new Japanese curry, which is currently on promo for $7.99!

香港出身のオーナーが手がけるタコ焼きの専門店Takogunへ行ってきました。あまり期待はしていませんでしたが、タコをはじめとする主要な食材は日本から直接取り寄せるというこだわりに、生地には昆布と鰹節の出汁が使用されており、美味しかったです✨️外はカリカリ、中はフワフワスタイルです。注文を受けてから作られるので焼きたてを味わえますよ👍️

トッピングは日本でもお馴染みな明太子マヨから、たまごサラダやウニの乗ったものも！香港ではこういうトッピングが人気だそうです。個人的に予想会に美味しかったのはトリュフベーコンです！グラタンみたいな感じ！

タコ焼きのほかにも、うどんや丼ものも。現在キャンペーン価格の7.99ドルで提供されている新作の「ジャパニーズカレー」が特におすすめです😋

I'm officially adding to my list of favorite Japanese restaurants. Most of their fish is flown in directly from Japan, and you can even find rare items like "Hamo" aka Daggertooth pike conger here.

I was so impressed by their tempura, not many places in BC do it right! The Wagyu is also the real deal, we had authentic A5 Miyazaki Wagyu. The menu is on the pricier side, but for the quality of the dishes, I think it’s very reasonable. For example, Omakase Sushi is 6pcs for $40 and the Omakase Sashimi platter is $60, +$22 for Bluefin tuna otoro.

And don't get me started on the wasabi! They have three tiers, and we tried the middle one. It was so good🤤 The top tier is fresh grated wasabi for $20, which I heard is barely breaking even.

👉️For those looking for a deal, they have happy hour every day, and they also offer a $28 lunch gozen on weekdays!

私の新たなお気に入りレストラン の紹介です。ほとんどの魚は日本からの直送、鱧の天ぷらには感動しました。バンクーバーでちゃんと天ぷらを揚げれるお店は少ないので…和牛も正真正銘のA5ランク宮崎牛。全体的にお値段は少し張りますが、お料理のクオリティを考えると非常に納得のいく価格設定だと思います。一例として、おまかせ寿司は6貫で40ドル、おまかせ刺身盛り合わせは60ドル（本マグロ大トロはプラス22ドル）です。

またわさびは3段階のグレードに分かれていて、今回真ん中のランクを試しましたが、これが本当に美味しかったです🤤 一番上のランクは20ドルの生わさびですが、利益をほとんど度外視して提供されているそうですよ！

✨Japanese morning set✨

Went to have breakfast at yAMA Cafe and it did not disappoint!

Their Japanese Style Grilled Fish Morning Set is available every morning from 9 AM to 11 AM for $17.95 (after 11 AM add $5).

Here is how it works:
Pick your grilled fish: Sockeye salmon or Mackerel
Pick your side: White rice, Mixed green salad (+$3), or 8-grain rice (+$2)

It also comes with miso soup, nukazuke (Japanese pickles), a vegetable appetizer (edamame purée, corn, tomato, shiitake mushroom, green beans), an onsen tamago, and fresh fruits!

Add-ons:
Natto ($3.50) | Mekabu seaweed ($3.50)

Beyond the morning set, their regular menu features tuna tataki bowls, pork belly bowls, vegan bowls, and sweet treats like ichigo daifuku.
Plus, they recently started dinner service too!

nuivancouver is a Korean restaurant with a focused menu of just 12 main items. I always order seafood pancakes whenever I go to a Korean spot, and this was easily the best one I’ve ever had😋 Definitely coming back for more❤

✨Best ramen in Vancouver!?✨️

Finally got to try Ramen Tsukiya after so many Japanese friends told me it's the best ramen in Vancouver!

👉️Got there around 2 PM on Saturday and waited about 20 minutes. It's a cozy space, so groups might need to sit separately.

A small menu is usually a sign of great food, and this was no exception. I ordered the Shoyu Tonkotsu ramen with 3 types of aged soy sauce. One sip, and I was genuinely shocked by how good the broth was. The texture of the noodles was on point!

Can't wait to go back and try their 3-miso tonkotsu and truffle ramen next. 😋

👉️土曜14時で20分待ちくらい。席数が少ないから、グループで行く人は分かれて座るかもなのでご注意を…

メニュー数は少なめだけど、やっぱりそのぶんクオリティが高い。今回は3種の熟成醤油を使った「醤油豚骨ラーメン」を頼んだんだけど、一口目で衝撃…バンクーバーでこのレベルが食べられるなんて凄すぎる。モチモチの麺も◎

他にも3種の味噌を使った豚骨味噌やトリュフラーメンもあるみたいだし、絶対にまた行きます！
