Week 36 : Lillet Spritz

Let's delve into the latest trend surrounding Lillet, a sophisticated family of French aromatized wines. Within this family, we find various expressions, including Lillet Blanc, Lillet Rosé, and Lillet Rouge. Each Lillet variant is meticulously crafted from distinct wines, fortified with brandy, and then infused with a blend of herbs, spices, fruits, or botanicals.

For our cocktail, we opted for Lillet Blanc—a crisp and light libation characterized by subtle floral, herbal, and citrus notes. Picture it as a semi-sweet white vermouth with an enchanting herbal finish. With a modest 17% alcohol content, Lillet Blanc proves to be a versatile companion for crafting exquisite cocktails.

Ingredients:
• 2 oz Lillet Blanc
• 3 oz Prosecco
• Splash of club soda
• Ice
• Garnish: Lemon wheel and a sprig of thyme

Method:
• Fill your glass halfway with ice.
• Pour in Lillet Blanc and Prosecco, giving it a gentle stir. Add a splash of club soda if desired.
• Drop in the lemon wheel, and garnish with a sprig of thyme.

Voila! Indulge in the culmination of flavors and aromas, a harmonious dance orchestrated by Lillet Blanc.

Cheers to good times and great drinks! 🍸

Now, what's the deal with Orgeat Syrup? It's basically the James Bond of sweeteners – a smooth operator made from almonds, sugar, and a touch of orange blossom water or rose water. Perfect for those who want their drinks to have a little mystery and a lot of flavor.

INGREDIENTS:
• 2 oz gin
• ¾ oz lemon juice
• ½ oz orgeat syrup
• 1 dash Angostura bitters

• In a cocktail shaker with ice, let the magic happen by combining gin, lemon juice, orgeat syrup, and a dash of Angostura bitters.

Here's to raising the bar, one delicious Army & Navy at a time.

Week 34 : Hot Honey Bourbon Peach

Get ready to savor the taste of summer, but here's the twist – this drink is so irresistible that we won't judge you for slurping it down on a chilly winter night either! Brace yourself for a flavor explosion as the sweet peaches lay the foundation, and the hot honey swoops in to add a layer of complexity that will make your taste buds dance with joy.

Ingredients:
• 1 cup frozen peaches
• 2 to 3 sprigs of thyme
• 3/4 oz lemon juice
• 2 oz bourbon Wh**ky
• 1/2 oz hot honey
• 1 cup ice

Now, let's talk about the star of the show: Hot Honey. Picture this – it's hot (as in spicy) and sweet (as in, well, honey!). No need to go on a wild goose chase to find it; you can whip up this magic potion at home. Just grab 1/2 cup of bee honey, throw in 2 teaspoons of fiery red chili flakes, and add a few drops of lime (or apple c***r vinegar). Mix it all up in a saucepan, bring it to a simmer on low heat, let the honey mingle with the dried chilies for 5 to 7 minutes, strain, and voila! Hot honey is your new secret weapon, ready to elevate not only your cocktails but also your charcuterie boards, dressings, salads, and more!

Method:
• Combine frozen peaches, ice, bourbon, thyme, and lemon juice in a blender. Blitz until it's smooth.
• Now, here comes the magic touch – add that hot honey and blend again. Get ready for flavor fireworks!
• Pour the concoction into a glass of your choosing, garnish with a peach slice, a sprig of thyme – go wild!

Whether you're basking in the summer sun or cozying up by the fire, this sipper is your ticket to a taste adventure. Enjoy! 🍹✨

Cheers to good times and great drinks!

Week 33 : The Hurricane

The story :

Step into the vibrant world of the Hurricane cocktail, where the spirited Pat O'Brien takes center stage. Picture the 1940s in New Orleans, and our tale begins in the speakeasy bar called "Mr. O'Brien's Club Tipperary", with a password as cool as "storm's brewin'."

Pat faced a challenge – an excess of unpopular rum, courtesy of persistent distributors. But our hero was no quitter. In his cocktail laboratory, he concocted the now-famous Hurricane. To amp up the experience, he served it in hurricane lamp–shaped glasses, adding a touch of visual magic.

So, the next time you enjoy a Hurricane, remember you're sipping on a legacy born out of necessity, a hint of rebellion, and a sprinkle of New Orleans charm. Here's to Pat O'Brien – the unsung hero of rum rescue missions! 🍹✨

Ingredients

• 2 ounces white rum
• 2 ounces dark rum
• 2 ounces passion fruit juice
• 1 ounce orange juice
• 1/2 ounce grenadine
• 1/2 ounce simple syrup (Skip if you like)
• 1/2 medium lime, juiced
• slice of orange and maraschino cherry, for garnish. Since we didn’t have any more oranges left, we used a slice of grapefruit for garnish. It worked :D

Method
• Add all the liquids to your cocktail shaker, fill the shaker with ice and shake shake shake
• Fill your glass with ice and double strain the cocktail in to the glass
• Garnish and enjoy !

I have to admit that this is a super boozy and a giant drink (nearly 10 Oz! Yaiks !!) , so we actually split the drink in to 2 smaller drinks.

Cheers to good times and great drinks !

Week 29 : Mojito Brazilian Lemonade

First of all, lets get the name right. There is so much to the name that's worth knowing about. Lemonade's are usually made with lemons right ? Wrong, not in Brazil. Their word for Lemonade, "Limonada" actually refers to limes. Also Lime is more abundant in Brazil than Lemons.

In Brazil they call this Lemonade "Swiss Lemonade" wait what ?? Yes, it's called Swiss Lemonade because the main ingredient there is the Nestle brand sweetened condensed milk which shows a swiss milkmaid on it's label.

So Brazilian Lemonade is also known as Swiss Lemonade which has nothing to do with lemons. Did I get you confused enough to get you drinking ? You are welcome !

Ok lets make this delicious drink now !

Ingredients (for 4 drinks)
• 4 juicy limes (thin, shiny skinned limes)
• 1/2 cup sugar ( a lot of folks say use 1 cup. We don’t care for too much sweet so half worked for us)
• 1/2 can Sweetened condensed milk (you can use less if you like)
• 4 cups ice water
• 4 Oz White Rum
• Brown sugar and lime zest for ri***ng the glass and a few lime wheels for garnish

Method
• Rim you glass of choice with a little bit of condenced milk and then rim it with the brown sugar and lime zest mix. Keep the glass aside
• Wash limes thoroughly, Cut out the ends and then cut limes in to small wedges
• In a large blender, blend all lime, water and sugar. Blend until there are no large lime pieces and sugar is dissolved completely.
• Strain the mix using a fine mesh strainer and discard the pulp
• Clean the blender and return the lemonade mixer to the blender again, add condensed milk and rum and a few cubes of ice. Pulse for 4 to 6 times until the mixer is well combined.
• Add a few ice cubes to you glass, pour your drink in to the glass, Garnish with a lime wheel.

The trick is to find your balance with the right amount of sweet and sourness. You can always add more sugar / sourness or condenced milk at the end.

Cheers to good times and great drinks!
