This is not just a cooking class.
It’s a chance to:

*Experience Ukrainian culture through food

*Hear a story you won’t forget

*And support people living through war.

On April 19, I’m hosting a live online cooking experience with Ukrainian chef and cookbook author Anna Voloshyna.

Anna has cooked on the front lines in Ukraine, and now she’s bringing her stories, her culture, and her food into our kitchens.

We’ll be making Ukrainian cabbage rolls (holubtsi) together, a recipe from her new cookbook UKRAÏNE, coming out this October.

$10 from every ticket will go to support Ukrainian bakeries through .for.ukraine

There are some people you meet who completely shift how you see the world, and yourself in it.
voloshyna is one of those people.

Anna is an American-Ukrainian chef, cookbook author, and culinary storyteller.

But what moved me most when I spoke with Anna was not just her food. It was how she shows up in the world, Anna makes things happen.

Anna has cooked on the front lines in Ukraine. She has fed soldiers in the middle of war. She has used food as a way to bring comfort, connection, and humanity in the hardest of moments. AND to fight for identity

One thing Anna shared with me in our podcast episode really stayed with me: that food is a language people understand. It opens people up. It connects us. It helps us care.

On April 19, Anna is bringing that same spirit into our kitchens.

We’ll cook together.

We’ll hear her story.

And we’ll experience Ukrainian culture in a way that goes far beyond a recipe.

We’ll be making Ukrainian cabbage rolls (holubtsi), Anna's way!

This is a recipe from her upcoming cookbook UKRAÏNE, releasing this October.

And $10 from every ticket will go to support Ukrainian bakeries through the not for profit: Bake for Ukraine This is not just a cooking class. It’s an opportunity to:

• Learn through experience
• Feel connected to something bigger
• Support a meaningful cause

If this resonates with you, I would love to have you join us.

Ecuadorian ceviche is a little different, and I love it.

✅ Light, citrusy broth (leche de Tigre)
✅ Served with a spoon
✅ Crunchy sides like plantain chips and corn

I’ve been testing a version from our Galápagos trip and can’t wait to share it with you soon on the podcast: In My Kitchen with Paula

Have you ever had Ecuadorian ceviche?

What if one evening could change how you see the world…and actually help someone in it?

On April 19, we’re gathering around the table with American-Ukrainian cookbook author and activist Anna Voloshyna.

Not just to cook.

But to connect.

Anna has cooked on the front lines in Ukraine. She’s fed soldiers. Raised funds. Delivered vehicles and shared her culture in the middle of war.

And now, she’s bringing that same spirit into our kitchens.

Together, we’ll make Ukrainian cabbage rolls, a recipe from her upcoming cookbook UKRAÏNE, releasing this October; but more than that, we’ll experience:

• The stories behind the dish
• The resilience of a culture
• The power of food to bring people together

And $10 from every ticket goes directly to support Bake For Ukraine

This is one of those rare evenings where:

You learn something meaningful
You feel connected
And you make a real impact

A short but very sweet trip back to Aotearoa / New Zealand. Had the usual:
🥧mince pie
🧀picked up cheese from the Kaiwaka Cheese shop.
🦪Talley’s Marinated Mussels
🍦Tip Top Hokey Pokey Ice Cream

And of course I re-stocked my Marmite supply.

Sweet memories made with the Whānau (family) and Friends.

I spent my time mostly up North in the Bay of Islands: Opua, Paihia and trips to Russell - the prettiest little village around.

I have a podcast episode on Aotearoa / New Zealand and our family story. I invite you to listen while you roast a leg of Lamb and sip on a New Zealand Pinot Gris.

What if your morning cup of coffee carried a century-old story of family, community, and connection?

In this episode, I sit down with Cristina Dias, founder of Mogiana Coffee in Vancouver, Canada whose family has been farming coffee in Brazil since 1890. We talk about legacy, sustainability, and how a simple cup of coffee can hold the spirit of a place, from the red soil of Minas Gerais to a roastery in Burnaby.

Have you ever been invited to “eat from your triangle”?

In this episode I sit down with Moroccan culinary expert and guide Siham Lahmine to explore the real Morocco—the one you taste and sit inside. From family kitchens in Fez to late-night medina vibes during Ramadan, Siham shares how hospitality, daily rhythms, and regional dishes reveal the country’s open-minded surprises and deep food heritage.

You’ll hear about:
🏠 How Siham curates in-home culinary experiences with local women outside tourist areas.
☕ Everyday meal rhythms (including the beloved cascrot—“second breakfast”)
🔺Respectful visiting: modest dress tips, how to interact in souks, and “eat from your triangle” at shared plates
🌙 Ramadan travel rhythms (start early, pause late afternoon, then feel the city re-ignite at night)

I suggest you pair this episode with a comfy cushion, and a cup of mint tea.

Listen at exploreinmykitchen.com and check out Siham’s Chicken Tagine recipe. Or listen on your favourite platform.
