Are you a caregiver in the River District and Champlain Heights area?

I got funding from South Van Neighbourhood Small Grants to run 3 Caregiver Cafés. I have scheduled the first two for Fraser Lands Church. If you are a caregiver for a parent or friend or other family member, you are welcome to attend. It's free!

Session 1: September 15, 7–8 pm
Discussion theme: The Things Nobody Tells You. What surprised you about caregiving? What do you wish someone had told you about caregiving?

Session 2: October 6, 7–8 pm
Discussion theme: How Tech Can Help
Let's share low-cost technology, apps, gadgets and tricks that make caregiving easier.

My idea for these Caregiver Cafés is for people to come together, connect, share experiences, and build community. Discussion themes will be half the conversation - the other half will be open discussion and opportunity to connect!

Heads up residents, the City will be continuing its work to upgrade the Kent Avenue Bikeway starting sometime next week. This will include some temporary no parking restrictions and the full closure of the shared path between Portside and Victoria Drive on East Kent N. Work will generally be 7:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday with some weekend work.

Dog Found!! 🙌 Are you missing a small brown dog? Sighted by area dog walker near Kent and Victoria heading to Gladstone Park. No other info. Will update if other info available.

If you heard the thunder this morning, you know it was exceptionally loud ie. Close by Was the thought. Someone in the housing co-op witnessed a lightening strike hit 100 feet in front of him which was a hydro pole on East Kent Ave near Portside adjacent to the rail line. Burn marks on the pole - apparently it’s one of the angled poles.

Hey neighbours, reminder this Saturday, August 8th is a free outdoor movie at Riverfront Park showing Wonka. There will also be some free salsa lessons at 7:00 pm to kick things off.
