Anthony Marotta's relationship with health didn't start in a lab. It started at home, in a household built by Italian immigrant parents, where scratch-made food wasn't a philosophy, it was simply how things were done. Later, working through his academic years in a restaurant kitchen, he learned that same lesson in a professional setting: what nourishes the body starts with what goes into it, made with intention.
That instinct followed him into science. Over eleven years at Augurex, he helped bring blood-based diagnostics from research bench to rheumatology clinics across North America, work that sits alongside a broader career advancing therapeutic programs aimed at treating disease at its source. But alongside that clinical work, he kept noticing a pattern: a food system drifting toward convenience over nutrition, and a supplement and skincare industry increasingly driven by marketing claims rather than evidence, the same lack of rigor behind a rising number of FDA warnings on liver hepatotoxicity from unregulated formulations.
It was a sharp contrast to the world he grew up in, one where real ingredients and disciplined preparation weren't a marketing angle, they were the baseline. The conclusion was hard to avoid, real change requires an integrated approach grounded in science: treating the body from the outside in, and healing it from the inside out.
That principle now shapes Peqish's full platform. Phyto-P brings clinically studied, polyphenol-based ingredients to metabolic and skin health. Derma-QI extends that same evidence-first rigor into topical skincare. Together with the broader Peqish portfolio, the strategy is consistent: science-backed products that support the body's own systems, rather than chasing trends or masking symptoms on the surface.
Anthony continues this work as Chair of the Clinical and Scientific Advisory Board at Augurex, Adjunct Professor at UBC's Faculty of Medicine, and mentor to founders through SFU Beedie's I2I program. But the throughline across all of it is simple: health isn't one-directional, and it isn't built on hype. Peqish is designed around both.
"I've spent my career improving patient management. Peqish gets there before the prescription does."
