Khanom Tom is one of Thailand’s ancient desserts, with roots traced to the 13th century. Shaped by Brahmanical-Hindu influences and culinary traditions across Asia, its simple blend of rice flour, coconut, and palm sugar tells a story beyond its ingredients.

Different names, different traditions, yet a familiar taste across Asia:

Klepon — Indonesia
Onde-onde / Kuih Buah Melaka — Malaysia
Tang Yuan — China
Bánh ít trần — Vietnam
Kozhukatta — South India
Palitaw — Philippines

Gaeng Som แกงส้มมะละกอแบบใต้ is one of Thailand’s traditional curries made without coconut milk. The Southern Thai style is known for its bold flavors, packed with fresh turmeric, shrimp paste, and fiery chilies. Pad Mee Korat ผัดหมี่โคราช is a traditional stir-fried noodle dish from north-eastern Thailand. Similar to Pad Thai ผัดไทย from central Thailand, it has a richer, bolder sauce with a perfect balance of savoury, sweet, and tangy flavours from fermented soybean and tamarind. It also shares the same roots as the Laotian dish Kua Mee คั่วหมี่.

My Thai lemongrass is thriving in rich organic soil and an ideal climate. It will be ready for freeze-drying this fall.
The main difference between Thai and Vietnamese lemongrass is the variety. Thai lemongrass has smaller stalks with a beautiful dark purple base and a more intense, aromatic flavour. Vietnamese lemongrass typically has larger, tougher stalks with a milder fragrance and flavour.

Our newest Northern Thai BBQ special is Grilled Chicken with Lemongrass (G*i Yang Takrai / ไก่ย่างตะไคร้, อั่วไก่) 🌻

Chicken thighs are marinated in a traditional Northern Thai herb paste with plenty of fresh lemongrass, then wrapped in banana leaves and grilled until juicy, smoky, and beautifully fragrant, served with our homemade sweet and sour cilantro-mint dipping sauce, perfect pairing with sticky rice for an authentic Northern Thai meal.
