We are slowly inching to that time of the year when foliage takes center stage - The Autumn or fall season . Here I have made delicate Ginko leaves in 3 stages:
1. Spring to summer colors of brilliant green and yellow
2. Beginning of fall season - in colors of yellow and brown
3. Fall to winter - darker brown and rust colors before they fall off and create a golden yellow carpet on the floor .

Fun facts -

1.Ginko trees have existed for over 200 million years even during the period of dinosaurs on earth .
2. They symbolize hope and peace - after the Hiroshima bombings , Ginko trees survived and resprouted turning the leaf into a global emblem of renewal and recovery.

Another first time flower for me - The Moth orchid in Gumpaste - botanic name : Phalaenopsis Orchid ( a difficult name to pronounce ) hence commonly known as the moth orchid due to its structure resembling moths flying in the air . This beautiful flower holds a lot of cultural significance in Asia as it symbolizes- Resilience, longevity ( the flowers last for months ) and elegance amongst others .

My version is made in gumpaste , it had a lot of tiny separate elements ( like its petals , sepals , throat , Column etc ) which were quite a task to assemble 😅😅😅 . It also required really steady hands to paint ( something that I’m still working on ) 😅😅 the tiny details , to bring it to life . I’m happy with this for now , and needless to say will aspire to make more and improve on my craft as we go along . Baked these delicious Gluten free Apple Pie Muffins, to celebrate my nephew’s bday . These delicious muffins - tick all the boxes , taste ✅, texture ✅, loads of apple ✅spices to mimic apple pie ✅and topped with crunchy cinnamon pecan streusel just for that ooh …. first bite bliss 😍😍😍. Ah just too delicious if you know what I mean 😀😀😀

Foxgloves are tall garden ornamental plants prized for their beautiful tubular flowers which grow in clusters . The flowers may or may not have spots marked within . They come in colors of mainly purple , pink , white and yellow . Though the plant is highly toxic if ingested , its leaves have been used for medicinal purposes. Here is my gumpaste version of foxgloves . I have included many elements like buds ,seed pods and leaves along with flowers .I hope you like them .

My first attempt at Cyclamen Flowers. These are made in cold porcelain clay a medium that I’m getting more and more confident using .

A quick fact on these flowers - they were first discovered on the hills in Turkey and are late summer - early autumn blooms ,when there is enough water on the slopes . They are shrubby plants which come in various shades of pinks , whites and an occasional red, their reflexed shaped petals which look like tiny butterflies in the wind. They are also used for various medicinal properties. My arrangement of them here is based on how they appear in nature. Hope you like them .

To be honest , I wasn’t very sure if I wanted to post this photo of my lily made in cold porcelain clay as I thought it didn’t look quite that pretty. I sat on this for a couple of days n then revisited it , and now I don’t think it’s that bad . That’s the beauty about nature , no two flowers (handmade or real) are ever the same , every flower is unique and needs to be appreciated in its own right . For now I think , I’m happy with this Lily ,what do you think ?

Style 2 - made a variegated English Ivy in gumpaste . Both of these styles require advance coloring techniques to achieve realism. A foliage I really enjoyed making 😀and needless to say - I’m now exploring making not just flowers but also beautiful foliage , nuts and berries as I go along , do stay tuned .

Made these pretty Ivy leaves this week . These as shown in the photo are climbers . Their surfaces have a distinct waxy or glossy sheen with lighter colored veins on medium-to-dark green leaves. This particular variety is called as the “Birds foot Ivy “, because of this shape . They are very cute and dainty leaves that can make any bouquet pretty . Made a few others too , will post them as soon as they are completed. Hope you like these .

Have been meaning to make Fuchsias for the longest time , ever since I first laid eyes on these pretty flowers . These are hanging flowers in overhead pots and they come in a variety of colors and styles from pink to white and purple . Some have single or double petals ( the little white things ) that you can see inside 4 colorful sepals. The double petal fuchsias look super attractive with pretty skirts like petals inside the sepals . Both of my fuchsias are double petal varieties with style 1 having ruffle free petals and style 2 , with ruffled petals and more advanced detailing. I hope you like both of these versions . 😀
