This laid the foundation so that Clarke and Denise could realize their dream of owning their own farm; in 1990 they started Ward’s Red Angus. Growing up on the farm Clarke knew this lifestyle was perfect to raise a family. Along with our two sons who we are so proud, Josh and Cole. Josh and Kari have blessed us with two grandchildren; Carter and Olivia. Even though they have their own careers they
still find time to help around the farm and together we get things done because that’s what families do. Over the years, our red herd has grown and because we wanted to offer more choice to our customers we have added a few black cattle. We run a traditional, no-nonsense cow herd and appreciate these Angus cows with their calving ease, temperament and functionality. We have also added a group of fall calving females to our program. These cows are low maintenance and do it on their own, calving on pasture late August and September. We wean them in May and pasture the bull calves as a group for the summer. The results are a rugged working bull that stands up and covers more ground. A great alternative for buyers looking for an aged bull. Our cows produce a consistent calf crop that has helped us build a strong repeat customer base. We are very proud of the fact that we have an 80% repeat customer base. This shows that our cattle are working as hard for our customers as they do for us!
“Cattle Bred with the Commerical Man in Mind”, is our motto and our customers' success is our goal! After selling bulls off the farm and consigning bulls to different sales, we decided have our own sale; Ward's Red Angus & Guests Bull Sale. Our first feature sale was held in 2008 at Saskatoon Livestock Sales and we have continued to have the sale every year on the first Saturday in March. We go to Agribition every year, but our goal is a little different than others. While winning a class is great, it is not why we take part in the shows. We take our cattle out looking honest, so whether you look at them in the stall or at home in our pens, other than a haircut, they look consistent. We go to the shows to meet and talk with new and repeat customers and give them a chance to have a look at what our program has to offer. Please feel free to come and look us up at Agribition In The Yards and see what we're all about. If you are ever in the Saskatoon area, stop in for a coffee. We are located 20 minutes west of Saskatoon, near Pike Lake.
